With a case this clear cut and public I am sure there will be a settlement before it goes as far as a lawsuit, but in the sue happy US where people seem more concerned about getting paid then getting over what happened who knows.

while the settlement with the girl and other injured passengers will be swift, what I am more interested in is whether any of the people who witnessed the accident will become parasites and sue for emotional distress because they will never be able to ride an amusement park ride again.

Where is it you're from?

That would be horrifying to witness, let alone experience! Can they re-attach her feet?

Word is they tried and failed to reattach her feet.... but that's just the word. She probably isn't even out of surgery yet if they're still trying. Anyhew, for a themepark fanatic, this is creepy, and freaky. What are the odds of it happening? Probably not good. Freak accident at it's finest.

What a horrible incident, there will definitely be a lawsuit filed. I think though they would like to settle before it hits the courts, they'll probably get this settled as quickly as possible. I can't even picture how painful that would be, or how gruesome watching that happen right before your eyes.

This what CNN is saying.
A teen whose legs were severed in an accident at a Kentucky amusement park has undergone surgery, a park spokeswoman said Friday. Hospital spokeswoman Julie Gordon would not discuss details of the surgery or recovery, citing patient privacy.
