And the bonus cost for signing and playing McDavid’s buddy Brown last year that carries over this year.

And the absurd cap hit of Nurse which is so bad the oilers would have to pay a crazy amount to move. And even if they could, they risk upsetting McDavid and Draisaitl who include Nurse in their click of the locker room.

Of course they would match in that scenario. Don’t think it’s ever happened before and I’m not sure why a team would. The acquiring cost is set at this point. There are no good options here for the oilers. They're in win now mode, so can't trade a veteran to keep these two players who haven't proven themselves. They can't match these two players, just to flip them. They can't keep the two players.

I think they have to let broberg go and take the pick, which is the player the Blues are probably really after. They probably sign holloway and put Kane on LTIR
