Folks, there you have it. There is no winning here with the "do your Facebook Qanon research crowd". The brain worms are too engrained. I lost my best friend growing up to this type of thinking, he cut off all communication with me after I got the covid vaccine (I've had 4-5 jabs, and I'm fine for all the anti-vaxxers out there). They rely on mental gymnastics to support a conclusion rather than allowing facts to determine an outcome.

Fox news really laid down the foundation for this alternate reality which now has been significantly amplified with social media.

Many were raised in Republican/Evangelical homes which in itself is difficult to break away from (took me nearly 20 years to not feel guilty about doing so). My parents to this day still say "we're praying for you"

FireItUp, maybe its time to take a break from social media/news consumption/doing your own research etc.

It's not healthy to be in such a negative rage fueled echo chamber.....

The "do your own research" thing is such a weird spin.

Obviously it is good to do your own research, nobody would want to discourage that. The problem is that it becomes "do your own research and disregard the research that anybody else does (including experts in the field) because it doesn't align the way you want it to".

The problem is you can always find someone to agree with you. But if you find yourself standing alone against overwhelming opinion and evidence, it may be time to re-examine things...especially when it isn't a field of your expertise (though even then as well).
