That was a amazing PLE, I think they nailed everything in terms of who should win and lose and how.
all the wrestlers put in the work tonight, I wonder if Jacob Fatu busted his ankle on the edge of the table.

One thing I do think will get overlooked tonight, but shouldn't, is how Damian Priest has really elevated himself.
I thought Gunther might overshadow him in that match tonight, but I actually think Priest had his strongest performance of his title run and really showed that "he belonged in that spot"
Held his own and looked pretty menacing at times in a stiff match with Gunther, and then I actually thought how they had him react to Finn really made it seem like "yeah this dude could be a star"

How do they elevate the group new Judgement Day beyond four midcarders and Liv? Having Priest (and Edge before him) really established the group. I know they have the tag titles, but unless they disband in the short term they need to be more than a comedy act.

Fin vs priest and Rhea vs Dom/Liv will be lots of fun.
Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.

I'd get him to job for Nyla Rose.

I hope we get Rhea vs Dom. I know WWE doesn't like having men vs. women matches in the modern era... but you can't capitalise on this feud without having them in a one on one match. With the right buildup that match could main event a PLE... or the first episode of Raw on Netlfix in January.

In 'water is wet' news: Meltzer and Alvarez did not like the show.

Dom is playing the old school sleazy and slightly cowardly heel. Why not do a Mid South special, and have Dom suspended above a cage match in a cage with Rhea getting 5 minutes in the cage with Dom if she wins?

Meltzer is the absolutely irrelevant in 2024. He's on Khan's payroll, and is upset that WWE is on such a roll right now. Mr. Tito is the way to go! Has been for years. I remember being on the LOPForums waaaaay back in the day. I've been reading his stuff for almost 20 years now.
In unrelated news, Dom is living the best life. He's more chicken than man at this point.

I’m not sure Meltzer is being paid by Kahn…but at some point Meltzer stopped seeming to care if a match contributed or built to a story…and really it was more about how many spots you hit in a match and I think what he likes is disconnected from the average fan.
None of the biggest stars is wrestling history were amazing in the ring…not Hogan, not Austin, not Rock, not Cena…but the reason is to the average fan the story and entertainment aspect of wrestling was always more important than the actual in ring work.
Is WWE going to put out a match quality that resembles AEW and NJPW at their average PPV…nope (although I’d argue it’s closer now than it ever was under Vince). But is the end product still probably a better package of the entire wrestling product…right now based on fan response it really seems to be.
Something like Gunther vs Priest last night was a great combination of in ring story telling, entertaining and physical in ring work, and the culmination of a couple of long term angles.

I love the long term booking concept that Priest cost Finn his title, and Finn has been stewing on it for like a year.
And on the same night that Dom cost Rhea her shot at the title.

They're good friends, and Khan takes booking advice from Meltzer. I don't think anyone can deny that it benefits Uncle Dave for AEW to perform well. He's obviously pro AEW (Just as Bischoff is anti AEW).
Lol at Rollins channelling Adam Page tonight, and wearing his gear.

The show drew money, audiences, and didn't have heatless bangers. Of course Uncle Dave would hate it.

Does Tony Khan have Meltzer on his payroll? I'm asking you to confirm that statement.

He's had a subscription to WON since the 90s, so yeah technically Tony has paid Uncle Dave $10.99 a month for 30 years.
Otherwise AEW is a private company, so despite rumours of Tony paying Meltzer there is no way to confirm or deny its validity. Other than the numerous shutouts and mentions of Meltzer and WON on AEW television, which obviously benefits Dave's portfolio.

Raw is damn good these days.
I am really stoked for Balor vs Priest, CM Punk vs Drew II, Liv vs Rhea II
It will also be interesting to see what Gunther's title reign amounts to.

One thing I think we could see the WWE do more is what they did with Odyssey Jones last night.
Taking a guy off NXT and having him debut on WWE the next week almost ruins the fun a little bit.
I would prefer if we go back to a world where you don't see a guy for 3-6 months, have him training and honing his character at the performance center / working dark matches, and then have them make more of a surprise impact on a show.
It's tough to have a real surprise in this day and age, but what they had both Odyssey Jones and Bronson Reed do last night felt a bit more like the true pre-internet surprises.
EDIT: Also Rowan, Macy, and Lumis worked a lot better in the ring than I thought they would and Macy and Lumis really look to have the makings of a pretty good tag team. Still think the Wyatt Sicks will be lacking that real singles star though, unless Bo Dallas can somehow prove to be that guy that maybe once had that potential in NXT.
