Things change quick, Trump will be absolutely torched in the next debate
I don't think that will matter . Trump is basically a cult leader now as we saw at the Republicans National convention.
Hillary was better than Trump in every debate in 2016 and alot of Good did that do.
I think the Dems running Harris is going to lead to another Trump win . That country is not ready to have a woman president . Things have changed alot in the last ten years but I don't think that Harris will win. Her being Bidens VP also IMO doesn't help. She will always be tied to Biden. Anyone who was unhappy with Biden will associate her to his falling popularity and failings.
If they wanna win they need to find a much younger person like Obama when he was nominated . Haris is still younger at almost 60 but if the Dems want to get people out to vote they need that 18 to 40 crowd to really come out and vote. A younger guy closer to that age group to fire them up.
I don't see Harris winning vs Trump . Hillary had name recognition, her Husband is arguably the best president the states ever had. The States under him were the most economical prosperity they ever had under him ,she was a first lady and Seceritary of state under Obama one of the most popular president's in history.
Harris as a DA and AG has a very mixed bag of history. She called her self a "Progressive prosecutor " Her time leading the offices didn't really seem like that outside of her program "Back on track" Her office routinely overzealous presude cases that got innocent people incarcerated .
As a Senator she signed on to some policing reforms as it was the thing to do for the dems but her history as a "cop " dosen't leave a good taste in the demographic she needs the votes from.
Harris is better than Biden but her past and recent association with Biden doesn't move the needle at all IMO

Yes he is. And I'm not sure which is worse. I mean the Oilers don't rape people at least. Although maybe he also cheers for the Blackhawks.
Uhh.. is a casting couch border line cohesion of rape ? If so the Oilers have the in ownership. I know not technically rape but tricking someone is IMO is pretty close.

I agree and disagree with parts of what you wrote, but your post reminded me of this article:
To me US politics is so extremely divided that most people choose based on allegiances. Trump has loyal followers. Not sure who could supplant him the other way. Harris is polarizing on her own side, without the cult following.
Conservatives losing their minds does not impact her chances.
Hillary lost because she lost some support from the progressive wing mostly due to their belief that she(or the party) stole the nomination from Bernie combined with taking the rust belt for granted while Trump sold them a message that enough of them believed.
I don't really see her gender as much of a factor at all.
Then Y'all ain't never spent enough time in the south, the pan handles or places like Wyoming or Montana .
Growing up my Dad and Granpa where doing the circuit for Chuckwagon and chariot racing when waiting for the crops to come in . I've been in at least 30 states. Didn't matter where we went all I remember is ethnicity and gender were majour deciding factors outside major city's. When I say major cities I mean more than 250,000 min.
Tv showa and news no mater if it independent or corporate like the narrative we all are playing together much nicer now but in reality nothing really has changed that much . The difference IMO is what we say and act like in public vs what we actually believe and say in private.
I personally know people that would never say or begruge a sex, ethnicity or sexually different orientation individual than themselves in public . They don't think they should be harassed or denied services etc etc but they in private setting certainly don't agree with the laws or policy's and use their vote against them.

Currently, I think you’re right. I think it’s a cyclical phase, though, as recency bias tends to be a very persuasive trap. Trump has braindead people voting for him and we’ve seen multiple posters in this thread be equally braindead in opposing him.
It’s kind of fun to be open minded; you’re very sought after.
You said you didn’t care who the Democratic nominee is. So leave it up to those of us who do, since you’ll vote for them either way.
You’re the child at the table who will eat what the adults cook and be happy.
Yum yum, slurp slurp.
You don’t really know me, so cut out the unnecessary #### talk okay? I’m an incredibly thoughtful person, but I’m also a pragmatist. This is a unique situation that asks those of us who want to be on the right side of history to pick a side and get behind the person who will win. Did you not see what happened in France that staved off a right wing authoritarian government?
Save your idealism for better times, and #### off with your placating tone.

A self-proclaimed incredibly thoughtful person? On the internet? Golly!
Save your pragmatism for your pathetic state and stop using ours on your CP handle.

Most of the south, places like Wyoming, Montana - they aren't really in play for Democrats anyway. So regardless of their take re: gender/ethnicity, they don't necessarily move the needle. Most of those places you're talking about are deep red and have been for decades. It could be Harris, or Biden, or prime-era Bill Clinton, and they're not voting democrat.
There are concerns to be had, certainly, but it's not exactly breaking news that rural voters were going to go hard for Trump in this election.

Every single one of those people would proudly vote for Trump while wearing their red hat regardless of who else was running. Who cares what they think of the opponent’s race or gender?
If Harris becomes the official candidate to go against Trump, would it be because of.....DEI?!?
I think on the surface that would be why. They tried it with Hillary and failed.
Harris also has hurdles as a Da and Ag she has to over come below that surface.
Running Harris would be a mistake IMO. They need a younger candidate than even her to get the votes they need . They need another Candidate Obamas age at least. Just having a Candidate in that age group that can see people's struggle and how the boomers like trump have left the country and economy raped and pillaged would play well. A young mid 40s guy raging how Trump and his generation took everything for themselves and left #### all for his generation would resonate regardless of party lines. They young Candidate could really play off that.

About 50% of that country cares.
Remember we are talking about the states nor the UK,not Canada, not France etc .
This is the USA . This is how the country operates . The USA overall is not that progressive . Gender and race still play a huge parts in the USA. Not as big as party lines but still pretty big.
Christ we are talking about a country that over turned Roe vs Wade. A relatively short lived supreme court decision. In a age where religion is on the steep decline that country got it overturned. Half the country over night almost had every woman's clinic closed down.

I just finished a trip that took me through North and South Dakota plus Wyoming and Montana. Guess what I saw a lot of...Especially in Keystone which is the tourist ville right by Mount Rushmore. It's not even 3 weeks and I have to think the shirt options will be totally different than the amusing ones I saw.
Just did a trip through South Dakota also. Lots of Trumpers everywhere in their God Guns & Trump wifebeaters.
A lot of people only know Joe as the senior citizen and elderly man being inflicted with issues that unfortunately will hit a lot of us as well.
Biden as a young politician was sharp and savvy.
It's crazy that in his early political days, the narrative was the he was too young to run. Fast forward to now, and it became that he was too old to run. It went full circle.
Interesting that when he was talking about Carter running and saying that he would need come off as sharp and quick, because those traits are not usually attributed to him. Now at his age, he would have been given the same advice from his advisors. Again, full circle.

Only an uneducated grunt could ever support Trump. He brings NOTHING to the table.

The education/gender crosstab over time is really illustrative. Race was a much bigger thing 20-30 years ago than now. It’s becoming a weaker predictive variable while the other two I mentioned (especially combined) have become stronger.
