On Barnburner today Boomer said what he heard is that Kylington turned down a 2 year contract.

From the Flames or a different team?

He’ll be lucky to get a PTO from some team at this point.

I'm assuming the Flames.

I had posted it earlier in the thread but it was the only way this stand still made sense.

If Kylington was dead set on 2 years then I think the Flames budge and give him 2 years, the risk is still low.

But to be asking for 3+ years...well I do get why that becomes a much more difficult discussion

It’s astonishing how quickly people around here turn on each other in the absence of fresh hockey news. Are other sports message boards this cannibalistic?

If that is the case, he likely is just looking for a new start. I don't think he will get more than a 2 year deal from anyone. It is too risky at this point.

What is Kylington worth on the open market? Brannstrom signed for 900K. Is Kylington worth more or less than that?

It really is about time we openly discuss the Sugar Baby problem on CP.

Definitely.

I'm mid/young Gen Y and feel like the young buck around here (aside from The Scorpion)

I’m still convinced that Kylington is getting bad advice for someone (most likely his agent). If the Flames have indeed offered two years then I’m not sure why he would be holding out. He really needs to play some games consistently and then set himself up for a longer contract. At this point I hope the Flames say this is a take it or leave it offer. The amount of leverage his camp thinks they have is truly astonishing.

2 year at what? I've said it before and will say it again, most athletes have short careers. If Kylington wants to milk a team for every penny, so what? It's no big deal. Kinda sucks because the team invested in him but as they say, that's business. If the Flames offered him 2 years @ $1M each year, and he's looking for 200k more per year, so what?

I am somewhat skeptical that J.P. Barry has performed that incompetently.
He has 56 active contracts worth $600,000,000. It's possible, but I feel like he'd have a better measure of the free agency market. He got Backlund extended without too much problem. He can only advise Kylington so much, but ultimately, it's Kylington's decision.

The so what is that no one offers 2x1.2. He might end up on a minimum deal.

Purely and completely insane.

At absolute best he is a 3/4 guy with the proper partner.

33 games in 2 years......none of which were very productive.

People say he owes the club nothing....i dont agree, but whatever.

One thing for sure, the club sure aa hell does not owe him a thing...nevermind a 3 year deal.

Wow.
