Doesn’t look like it’s changed. This looks like it’s from 2023 based on the document numbering.

You know there is a certain segment of the population who will think, "I usually water my lawn for one hour per week, and I haven't been able to water it for four weeks... so, I'll water it for four hours now to catch up."

They're the reason they have to do a gradual return to normal.

What? Thats insane.

I am the first person to admit that my knowledge of lawn-care wouldn't fill a thimble but even I know thats madness.

4 hours wont do! You gotta leave that on all night!

Obviously at some point between 0hrs of watering and way before 4hrs of watering something will click in their brains and be like, “oh, this seems like too much, my lawn looks like a rice paddy…”

It’s more of a hassle, so people will use less water.

I don’t know about that. Because of the rain and mild temperatures we’ve had over the last couple weeks, lawns are fine. I expect a lot of people would water their lawns immediately if the restrictions were lifted - especially as we’re going into a hot spell - but no more than they normally would.

Why do we even have lawn? Who was the first lawn salesman? Because he deserves a bonus.

Here’s this giant pain in the arse surface that dogs piss and crap in. You have to meticulously maintain it as some sort of social hierarchy thing. You can also hire Mexicans to take care of it.

But can you lay in it? Fata no, it’s itchy and spiky and bugs bugs and old dog piss in it. Give a lot of people rashes.

But there has to be an upside? Well…it’s green and it can look like a nice haircut of green spiky piss shards.

Oh ya there’s worms and beetles and dog piss in it.

They tell you that you should only water enough to fill a frisbee, but who even has a frisbee anymore?

I only had one of those Home Depot buckets so I figured...'same thing?'

It's insane to me that anyone chooses to start with a lawn on a new build at this point (unless maybe it's a perfect space for kids to play in the backyard). Should I spend a couple thousand bucks for something that requires a bunch of annoying maintenance (not to mention obnoxious noise for everyone around)? Or spend the same for some mulch and rocks and plants that could require as much or as little maintenance as I'd like?

I personally just love the lawn and even the maintenance. It's my most proud moment post mow when I look out and see a perfectly manicured lawn with the lines running across. Plus with kids its nice to have a soft area they can play in, or we can go play some catch on, rather than having them play on rocks/mulch.

It does reduce usage.

If I put my sprinkler on for an hour around the yard, that's one hour of the water going full blast.

If I water some stuff by watering can, it's like 5 minutes of the water on full blast to fill 20 watering cans. There is no way I'm going to have the patience to go on hand watering that long.

How’s does adding an intermediate step of using a container save water?

Having a good chuckle at this as I sit on my deck taking in my back yard, flower garden, lilac, mountain ash, and apple trees, listening to the finches and sipping a negroni.

Enjoy your concrete boxes, fellas.

The city’s numbers suggest it works. To me how it saves water is obvious. But the mechanism doesn’t really matter. It reduces water consumption.

I'm mad about the fire bans being lifted. I hate when trashy people have their trashy backyard fires when I want to have my windows open. We're, like, the only city dumb enough to let trash burn their trash in pits right outside bedroom windows.

The mayor has been talking about gradual removal of restrictions since forever.
