There's no right or wrong answer, but I think when teams are in such dire situations, as the Jays are here, where guys are more frustrated then ever, getting into an argument can make the wheels come off even more if it's not worthy of the fight. Atkins should've been fired some time ago. On the other hand he clearly can see this philosophy doesn't work and can clean up his own mess. I'm not fully opposed to that if they abandon the defence at the expense of offence, approach. They have the wrong strategy and subsequently the wrong players that align to that. Unless they change that philosophy, bringing in new guys that fit that mold will still yield the same results.
Time to look at guys who can get on base and mash, while playing average defence. If you're an OFer, you have to be able to hit HRs.
