You could have said "I don't think he will be available" but the way you said no made it seem like you knew forsure.

Maybe look in the mirror instead of projecting onto others. If you don't see a problem with how you said "no" and how it appears that you knew something that you didn't looks like then that's on you.

Or you can continue to pretend you have several sources across the league including Nashville to be able to confidently say a backup goalie isn't available minutes after the starter is signed long term.
