I seriously don't understand how Mogilny hasn't gotten in yet

Mogilny should absolutely be in and Colin Campbell shouldn’t be anywhere near the HOF unless he buys a ticket.

I do find it a little strange that the HOF has such a backlog of older players, personnel, managers and builders but inducts much younger people.
I really don't have any issues with any of the people who are getting in but it does seem weird that people like Mogilny are left out. Him and other Soviet era players literally had to escape their countries in order to play the game in North America. It's a historic event that happened.
Not a popular opinion these days but people like Theo Flurey , Don Cherry, Mike Richter, Gary Suter, Ron Hextall and more.
I get that some people have problems with some of the politics of the above but it should be noted that it should be about someone's hockey career and achievements, not about politics.
Lot's of people to be included so we can leave the players in their 30's for a little while longer and let other's enjoy it with their families while they can.

The HHOF is primarily a non-profit business (but still a business) and a tourist attraction. They want to appeal to different fanbases across the league, different ages groups, different nationalities, and different demographics in general. I think that is a big part of how certain people are chosen and others put off to the way side until they are needed or forgotten.

Then I think maybe they need to induct one or two more players each year until the backlog of legit hall of famers are in if they still want to put guys like Weber in who’ve been retired for such a short time.

Its the whole "Defensive defenseman" quandary IMO.
IMO he was one of the best I have ever seen, but just didnt get the offensive #s that seems like are all any body cares about anymore.
I think he is EASILY a HOF guy.

I watched Roenick in his prime in Chicago. Good player, but, not "great". Agree too, that Weber is a tier below HOF quality. No complaints about Datsyuk, except to remind all that as a 'Hawk fan, I must declare: "DETROIT SUCKS!" No opinion on Campbell, except to say that he put in his time, and is getting credit for that. Poile also gets credit for longevity, and was a magician in getting Hockey to flourish in a non-traditional market. Where I live, there is almost no exposure to Women's Hockey, and have little familiarity with the two ladies.
Bottom line, I guess Roenick and Weber catch a break in that this didn't seem like a bumper crop of candidates, this year.

Thats got to be one of the main reasons he should be in the hall.

Agreed. But it’s the only thing about Mogilny I can think of that’s affecting this. And even that seems far fetched. It was a different regime, Mogilny is in the KHL now anyway as a team president, the HOF isn’t the NHL and worried about inter league relations, they've admitted other defectors.
He ticks all the usual boxes. 1000 points. Over 1000 games if you include POs (despite a lot of injuries). Cup winner (Triple Gold in fact). 4th highest Russian in points.

I say it every year, but the HHOF is way too inclusive. It should be for the elite.
Imagine you are visiting it in 50 years, you shouldn't need to sift through 6-7 people per year when in reality there is 1-3 (max) that should be remembered as elite.
This year should be Datsyuk & Poile.
2023 should have been Hitchcock (no Vernon, Turgeon, Barasso or Lundqvist)
2022 should have been Luongo & the Sedins (no Alfredson)
2020 should have been Iginla & Hossa (no Holland, Wilson or Lowe)
2019 should have been Wickenheiser (no Carbonneau or Zubov)

The Flames beatng the 2004 Red Wings was true miracle. Goaltending and grabbing. I think 8 or 9 HOFers on that team now.

Not really interested in reigniting the Fleury debate, and I'm not really sure where I stand. But the HHOF is supposed to be for your NHL career, and there are all sorts of terrible people in the hall, like Bobby Hull. If you think Fleury's career warrants it, put him in. If you're keeping him out because he's an awful person, then start removing others.

Fine by me
Or acknowledge error made previously and try to avoid making them again

It’s actually for your hockey career (not just NHL, though that’s the majority) and who people were away from the game of hockey has historically been a source of debate when it comes to induction (for the last 40 or 50 years at least, so this isn’t new). People have been denied or expelled from the Hall for who they were off the ice, so I’m not sure why people care if that trend continues.

Of course you're right, should have said hockey not NHL. Who was expelled? Off the top of my head can't think of any.
But Fleury was eligible long before his views came to light, so it's entirely probable they just don't consider him worthy.
