Kinda crazy how plays like the own goal today and the ridiculous 'interference' call against France have screwed the Dutch in their group. Sports can be cruel sometimes.

Advancing in third might be better than being in second, top half of the draw looking much more difficult at the moment.

Wonder if part of it is that international football is far simpler and they don’t have all the planned movements to create space. So might as well have a target man in there to occupy the centre backs and create space for the other players that way

Club football guys spend months together and learn how to play off each other. International football they get thrown together at the end of the season and get basically two weeks to prep. Route 1 football is always gonna be more effective than trying to run an actual system.
