The conversation that consisted of the latter part of this thread. Were you simply butting in to change the subject?

My first post mentioned barn burner and boomer only. Again, you were wrong and arguing for the sake of arguing which you're good at.
So explain to me why the salary of a Home Depot manager is relevant to anything. I'm still waiting on that one.

That's pretty much minimum wage in Canada. Warrener puts his name face and time on the line for $150 a day?
I get the impression Rhett and Pinder are not worried about money. I could certainly be wrong. I don’t know anything, pure speculation.

You're not allowed to talk about radio here. ZM has made it clear this thread is about podcasts only.

No my post was only about podcasts and boomer and barn burner. You can talk about anything you want.

It's cute when you're wrong in another thread about Kylington and then try to attack me in other thread even when you're clearly wrong again.

Unless I quote you in my post, in which case I'm not allowed, apparently.

No, I disagreed with you about Kylington, as did everyone else participating except Dion.

Which banned poster are you again, and how many times have you been banned before? Because you certainly seem to be sucking around for another ban.

I think there was a bit of a podcast bubble that burst last year but it's still an extremely popular form of content. CliffFletcher might be cute but he's out of touch.

They have the perfect chemistry between the 3. And all of the guest appearances are great for the most part. You have to be a pretty negative person to crap on any part of Barn Burner.
Well said, Rhettro

It’s an extremely popular form of content (I’m subscribed to about 20 podcasts). There are loads and loads of people creating loads and loads of podcasts - hundreds of podcasters in Calgary alone. But very few of them make real money for the creators.

Strange Brew made a post that seems to have been ignored where he pointed out he knew someone who had a legit branded sports podcast in a bigger market than Calgary and he didn’t earn anything close to a full-time income from it.

That is what the digital age of media is: the low barrier to entry means huge amounts of content being generated by large numbers of creators, with very, very few of those creators making much money because the market is so fragmented, and because listeners/viewers like us don’t pay anything. This is true of podcasts, music on Spotify, Youtube, etc. It’s far easier to get into media creation than it was 20 years ago, but far harder to earn a living from it.

A friend of mine has taught journalism at SAIT, focusing on digital media. He tells his students not to expect to earn a living from their work unless they cobble together 3-5 different gigs. That’s the reality today. Digital media has made the field less lucrative, not more.

And none of this is a criticism of the Barnburner guys. I enjoy their content. Just like I enjoy the content of the other 20 or so podcasts I’m subscribed to created by people doing it as a side-gig or passion project.

Did the BB guys (well, Pinder anyway) ever figure out that was an April Fools prank from QVC?

I skipped right past that part of the show.

Any mention of gambling, beer, football or youtube videos and it's "mark as played".

Pinder and Warrener crushing beers at 10am was classic this morning, not celebrating an Oilers loss though

Might have to tune in for that. Not sure what draft coverage I will have down here, if any. Does ESPN have the NHL draft?

Edit: looks like ESPN is showing it
