I think it's funny people talk about Silayevs "lack of offense" not realizing that he outscored Kucherov at the same age in the KHL, as a D man.
And set the record for most points and games ever played by a u18 Dman in KHL league history.
And will easily break the record for a u19 player and he's still a year away from 19.

Until you actually see the production, you never know though. It was probably part of the reason why Kucherov was a late 2nd rounder and not a top 10 pick that year. Probably also a big reason why they brought him over to play in the QMJHL after drafting him as well.
Kucherov also lit up the MHL being over a PPG there in his draft year and his D-1 year. Silayev in the MHL only had 8 points in 41 games in his D-1 year. He hasn't produced a lot of points at any level. I am not saying he can't or won't, but he never has up until this point.
Silayev also apparently put up most of his 11 points in 63 games over a short stretch of games, which could have been just a hot streak.

Perhaps we should consider then that what Silayev did in a microburst even more impressive for a 6'7 200 lbs wet spaghetti noodle of a human and a Defenseman as Opposed to Kucherov.
Dudes a mutant, that's all I know and I still don't know how I feel about drafting him if I were the Flames GM. But the upside is Generational unicorn. That's a lot to consider

Haha, imagine getting Parascak at 62 OA and with our 4th pick in the draft.

If you are a team drafting in the top 5. I highly doubt he's available when Utah picks.

I'd say you can't teach 6'7" that can skate like the wind.
Look nobody wants a 6th defenseman, we can all agree on that.
I personally see the unicorn more than the plodding third pairing defenseman and would take him if he fell.

Bingo is there a certain player you are eyeing at 9? You can give us your list of guys. We won't judge. My hopes are in order and based on players that have a possibility to be there at 9.
Parekh
Catton
Buium
I wouldn't be disappointed with Iginla, Dickinson, or even Sennecke as now he's grown into his frame he could take off.

I went to see some highlights. He’s definitely a strong skater. I wouldn’t say skates like the wind. Unless you have some other highlight packages that show his skating ability? Maybe this one wasn’t that good.
He has some raw tools for sure.
It’s the offensive side for me that is my concern.

Is it too soon to do the pre draft rankings?
Isn't it 10 days away?

I see the following gone ...
Celebrini
Levshunov
Demidov
Lindstrom
Silayev
Buium
Dickinson
Iginla
Calgary picks from ...
Catton
Parekh
Eiserman
Sennecke
Yakemchuk
Hopefully they have two picks! Would love a forward and a dman.
Catton and Yakemchuk would be a great result.

That’s the way I see it playing out. Probably comes down to Catton, Parekh, or Yakemchuk, with a tilt toward Parekh for position. Yakemchuk is interesting because if there’s any organization that will have a good read on him, it’s the Flames.

I see the following gone (in this order):
Celebrini
Levshunov
Buium
Dickenson
Iginla
Silayev
Parekh
Demidov
Leaving us with:
Lindstrom
Catton
Yakemchuk
Eiserman
Sennecke
In this scenario, I don't know who I would take between Catton or Lindstrom.
If we had two picks, would I take both or take Yakemchuk as well? Tough to say.

I think it’s highly unlikely but I really hope Conroy can manage to get 10th overall from New Jersey and have both Lindstrom and Iginla available at his two picks. Iginla would be the “safe” pick and Lindstrom would be the high risk/high reward pick (because of his injuries mostly).
Again, doubtful it happens IMO. I think there’s a decent chance one of them is available at 9th overall but very slim chance that both of them will make it that far.

I ran a simulator with almost no knowledge of these players beyond the top 12-15 guys.
https://nhlentrydraft.com/mock-draft
Computer picked:
1 Celebrini
2 Levshunov
3 Catton
4 Eiserman
5 Brandsegg
6 Dickinson
7 Lindstrom
8 Buium
I picked;
9 Iginla C (i liked the name)
28 Emery D (he seemed to do well and the combine)
41 Sahlin D (i wanted a European)
62 Zetterberg C (i liked the name)
74 Miettinen C (I wanted the WHL center)
84 Leenders G (goalies should be drafted in the middle of the draft)
106 Caswell LW (i needed a left wing)
107 Fischer D (back to back picks, 1 F and 1 D)
170 Voullet RW (i needed a right wing)

If Flames can get another pick or two in the 1st round without giving up the two they have, then this draft has a Dallas in 2017 vide to it. There might not be any generational players, but a first line centre and a top pair d man seem possible.

Reports from Milsteins "combine" that Demidov will play one more year in the KHL and then come over. Also apparently measuring closer to 6'1 than original 5'11

From Milstein's camp in Florida it sounds like Demidov is having a good showing. Good English. Bigger than expected. Coming over within a year. Adds to likelihood he goes early.
Most interesting thing is what GM's aren't mentioned here. No montreal and no ottawa? Nice to see Conroy scouting Parekh.
