Iginla in his prime was a far better overall player than McLotteryball IMO. Dude was the ultimate power forward who was great at both ends of the ice, and also had amazing skill.

Oilers are dominating the medium danger chances. IMO they did out play the Panthers game 1, but that is it.
Also, another year blaming their goalie. This year makes 0 sense too, Florida invested $10 mil in their goalie and at first were criticized on how bad that contract is. Bob is elite and I don't get how they can expect Skinner to out play this guy when he has Forsling and Ekblad shutting down star players in front of him. Most the Oilers great chances came from their depth guys.

Prime Datsyuk and Crosby are in a different league than McDavid, you cannot crossover your way to a Stanley Cup

This is working out pretty good.
Canucks just showed they aren't a playoff built team and got dominated by the crappy Oilers to end the series.
and the Oilers are going to get swept in the Finals for the world to see.
I just want to see some riots!

I may never again visit BPs because of their annoying "This time let's do it differently" commercials. It is a national league, not an international one, and you obviously don't know how sports fandom works you irrational marketing dimwits.

The Oilers are just good enough to beat teams that are bad or have depth but missing elite players. The Stars are a great team and match up well against tons of teams but other the Heiskanen, they don't have true elite players.
Then the Oilers match up against Florida, they don't have defense to stop a guy like Barkov, the Panthers have tons of depth to chip in, but McDavid and Leon have no answer for Forsling and Ekblad. Just like Makar and Toews, once they match up against a beast like these 2 pairings, they just get steam rolled. Florida also has a superstar goalie once if you get past their d.
Eichel and Vegas also beat the Oilers, but Eichel looked like a superstar playing the Oilers d.
Pettersen and Robertson just have not figured out the playoffs yet. LA is just a borderline playoff team.

And a cap penalty next year for Brown's contract...$3.5 mil.
This cup run might cost them a ton to keep Bouchard, his contract might go up more than Leon's

You have to think Campbell is getting bought out this off season.
Buy out cap hit by year:
1. $1.1m
2. $2.3m
3. $2.6m
4. $1.5m
5. $1.5m
6. $1.5m
As opposed to paying him $5m per year to play in Bakersfield.

I thought the Stars just looked gassed. Getting by the Avs and the Knights in longer series, for me those two teams were both good enough to make the finals with a bit of luck themselves and were real grinds. The oilers took a bit longer to take out the nucks but really had two very easy opponents in comparison.

It’d be crazy but if Edmonton wanted to go all in they’d buyout Nurse. Two years of really good cap relief and then pain

I think they will as well, but that cap hit in the years they need to sign Leon, Bouchard and Mcdavid is going to be costly.
Also, if Skinner is the problem do, they just go out and get at minimum a split time goalie to play with him? How much will that cost? $3 mil? Basically, eats up the cap savings and it's very likely they don't get anyone that good with $3 mil.
They also could explore trading an asset with Ceci to get rid of him, but he only makes $3.25 mil and they are very short on assets.
Campbell in the AHL saves them $1.2 mil as well.

The truth is the Oilers are a house of cards and have been all season. They are the true definition of pretender. Got to the Cup final playing a team that shouldn't even be in the playoffs round 1, a team playing a 3rd string goalie and without their top scorer in Round 2, and a team that eliminated the previous two Cup champs in 7 games in 2 hard fought series and were completely gassed. Understanding there is no easy games in the playoffs but show me a team that has had an easier path to the Cup final than the Oilers this year over the past 20 years, 30 years, or ever.
If Demko plays that series, there is zero chance that Oilers get past Vancouver plain and simple.
The Oilers are simply an inferior team to the Panthers in every aspect of the game. To ever label the Oilers as true contenders is just pumping tires and marketing efforts for McDavid. This is probably the best-case scenario however because they are now convinced they are close and will probably ice close to the same lineup next year, walking Draisaitl to free agency.
