I'm all for Laine coming in, but that proposal SHOULD get Conroy fired if it happened.

Is the green text missing? I wouldn't do Sharangovich for Laine 1 for 1 under their current contracts.

Huberdeau and Andersson for Laine and Gudbranson. Let Huberdeau spread his wings and fly in the Eastern conference.

The only good thing about Laine is that he only has 2 years left on his deal. I also don't think trading for a player currently in the NHLPA assistance program is a great idea. I hope he pulls through with whatever he is dealing with, but it does add a little more risk to the asset.

Huberdeau for Laine. I'd be willing to add to move on from Huberdeau, I'd like Laine.

Shouldn't be a shock. It hasn't worked here for him so far, and we're unlikely to compete for the bulk of his contract. If we found a way to ship him elsewhere I'm sure he'd be all for it.

I would imagine, he's experienced THE largest drop in production of an NHLer in history here. That'd be tough mentally

Why not? He's a proud guy, it's been tough here, there's some upside in Columbus with younger players like Fantilli, Johnson and Sillinger.

Injuries have piled up on this guy recently but with the right group around him he’s a sure shot for 30/40 70pts. I wouldn’t be surprised with a change of scenery and the right org to see him back to his normal self. Two years remaining at 8.7 AAV.
I bet he bounces back big and makes a lot of people eat crow.

Just look at Boeser this year. Anyone who picked him up for cheap would have looked like a genius. That being said, he would need to be a bargain.

100%.
Some guys don’t like to burn in the kitchen. Lifestyle matters more than hockey to some guys. I couldn’t say no to 84 million either.

Sorry should have been more clear, I guess is he actively seeking out a change in scenery or would just be open to it?

Only interest I would have in Laine would be for Mangiapane straight across. A lot of risk (and upside) there for a player with serious warts.

I’ll add this, if the NHL provided compliance buyouts to every team right now. Flames would write the cheque yesterday.

As they should, the contract is an unmitigated disaster as of today

Flames have more than enough cap space to take on Laine's contract for 2 years.
Laine + CBJ 2025 5th for Future Considerations.

Problem is 10.5 AAV, Signing Bonus heavy. It will never get moved. We got our Yacht.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
What would a Laine for Huberdeau deal even look like?
Edit - Sec kind of sums it up lol. Just isn't feasible
