I don't know much about Jokiharju but having a top 4 of Dahlin, Andersson, Byram, and Power would be incredible for Buffalo. That should fetch us the 11th pick.
If the Flames can turn Markstrom++ into the 10th pick that would be outstanding.
We are almost guaranteed that Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov are gone. This leaves us able to pick 3 of the following minus 5.
I think the worst case scenario here is that Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla, Buium and Parekh are all gone. Then the Flames probably pick Helenius, Dickinson and Silayev.

That's a pretty good worst case scenario

Any reason Mangiapane is being thrown into these deals, besides the fact he’s overpaid and the fanbase have soured on him? The Devils want to get bigger and harder to play against. Gotta think adding another small, skilled forward (and his $5.8 mil cap hit) is pretty low on their off-season shopping list.

It's been rumored he'd also like a change of scenery.

What the Devils desperately need is a #3 C who can take some of the defensive load off Hughes and Hischier while generating offence with Mercer and Palat. I don’t know if Backlund is resolved to retire in Calgary. But if he’s willing to chase a Cup, he’d be a very enticing add to a deal with NJ. As a bonus, he’d get to stick with his pal Markstrom.
To NJ:
Markstom (50 per cent retained)
Backlund
2024 2nd (from DAL)
To CAL:
NJ 2024 1st (10 OA)
Seamus Casey

Don't see the need for us to include draft capital in this at all. Markstrom retained and Backs should do the trick no problem.
Draft capital is because there’s a good prospect coming back too.
Yeah I'd love to target in on Casey, who also doesn't seem to have an obvious spot in their lineup. He needs to be a PP guy - and they have some many offensively gifted dmen, that I don't see how that happens.
Is Markstrom owed real $ or has it mostly been paid out? Murray Edwards won’t retain 2 years of salary especially for guys who likely won’t play for the team for 2 maybe 3 years. Would love to be in the room if Conroy proposed it. Who knows? Maybe Murray has changed his tune and wants to build a proper contender over several years. lol

The trade is fair without our 2nd being involved. The 1st for Markstrom and retaining 2 years of salary, and the prospect for Backlund.
