Maybe some who aren’t game breakers or legit 1C like a Lindholm. I think most are playing C right off the bat. Even Monny played C as a 18 yo rookie.
Looking at the last 4 teams left outside of Crysaddle who is a fake center, I don’t think anyone was a converted winger to C. It’s usually the other way. Like Necas!!

If his dad is saying Tij has mostly been a center in his hockey career and Tij himself is saying center is the position he wants to play AND his coach agreed to put him at center next season, I'm not sure how anybody can argue he will never be a center.
Oh yeah, it's that guy who has been trying to discount Tij Iginla at every turn. He apparently knows more about what position he will play than Jarome, Tij and his coach. It's amazing intel.

Did anyone catch that interview on TSN ftom Tij a couple days ago?
He already talks like a grown man. Very mature. I'm on the Tij train again but I do hope Catton still drops to the flames.

I've been told by a scout Iginla's upside could be somewhat a hybrid Draisaitl, probably a 2nd line center and lethal shooter on the PP.
And because of his age I can't see his numbers going down at all, maybe you missed it but Tij looked pretty at center at the U18's and if Cristall stays in Kelowna Tij will likely be his center, if not Gojsic will be his winger, either he's going to get a lot of points IMO.

Can you imagine what would happen if Iginla played center full time for Kelowna next year and his point totals went down?!?!?!
That would be a massive travesty! His pre-draft scouting ranking would get rewritten. His future potential permanently degraded. His scout ranking completely tanks. His draft selection will be redone and he'll go late in the 2nd round instead. Turned into a fourth line energy forward.
Or he just gets experience at center and when he gets to the NHL for the team that drafted him top 10 he's added skills to his toolbox. I know, I know that's unrealistic. Go with the sky is falling scenario.

I didn't miss it at all, he got a few shifts at centre at the U18's because of players not being available to Canada. He was played as a winger. Comparing Tij Iginla to Leon Draisaitl is a huge reach, I certainly am not the biggest Draisaitl fan but the odds of him being as good as Draisaitl are extremely slim. Hell, the odds of Celebrini being as good as Draisaitl are actually fairly low. This is my concern in drafting Tij, some fans are having some serious unrealistic expectations and when he doesn't win Art Ross trophy's or Hart trophy's there is going to be disappointment. I still think his offense is going to take a considerable hit playing centre, they can try it though.

Guys. This is the Flames we are talking about. You’ve all been fans for how long?
Rest assured there is an absolute 0% chance he will be available at 9, and double rest assured there is no humanly way possible Calgary trades up to get him. Iginla is not going to be a Flame. You can bet on that because… it’s the Flames, and it’d be just too good to be true for Flames fans. So if it’s too good to be true, it’ll never happen.
Sometimes I say to myself, “but Coffee, why so cynical?! Something good will happen one year!” And since 2004 I’ve been waiting. I’ll give Gaudreau’s Dallas elimination a half chub for credit, but nothing other than that in 20 years.
It’d be so exciting to get Tij Iginla, and because of that, you know we won’t. So anyway, who else do we hope for (that won’t work out)?

Part of me expects us to just go extra Flames, and by some miracle he is still available, and we still don't take him

If we don’t get Tij, we get Catton.
Or Dickinson.
Or Parekh.
Or Lindstrom.
Or *shudder* Buim.
We get someone good, is the point.

And so does everyone else. You need to pick someone who will be better than the rest ideally, or that fits your team the best and for the Flames I think that truly is Iginla.

The ultimate Flames move would be either trading down and out of picking either of these guys which we’ve done many times in the past 10 years.
Or
Going completely off the board ala Jankowski and picking some random college kid nobody has heard of.
These are my nightmares. Luckily I think Craig is far more smart and wouldn’t let someone Weisbrod him into terrible decisions.

The Flames will pick the player they think is the best player.
They won’t go off of their board.
They may go off of our board.

Why do you care about others fans expectations or feelings about a hypothetical drafted player?
You aren't responsible for the draft, the player or the team?
You seem to be taking this far too personally that if he gets drafted and isn't successful somehow you will be blamed?
