I want Tij but if he's gone and we get Catton I'll be pretty excited. I think both are going to be core pieces of their teams moving forward, so the tie to me goes to Tij for the storyline. Now if we can get 10th from NJ for Markstrom and get both.... or Tij + Yak, I'd be ecstatic
I don't think anyone is giving up an earlyish first round pick for Markstrom. Maybe late first, but even that doesn't seem like reality to me. The Flames will be looking at a decent prospect and player more than likely unless some sort of bidding war opens up.
I wouldn't mind being wrong here but man, that seems like you'd have to hope a GM went completely crazy to value an aging goalie that might only play for a year or two with your team that highly.

Too many people here are getting caught up on position. The Flames will be pretty bad for 3-5 seasons here. There will be tons of ammo to draft centers and defenseman. Just take the BPA.
Drafting Tij is my best case scenario going into the draft. It's what I'm hoping for.
I haven't hoped for an individual player to get drafted this much since the Tkachuk draft. I wanted Zary going into that draft, but not as much as I want Tij to get selected.

I was going to say the same. Of all the prospects that the Flames have, other than Wolf, Coronato has the highest potential to take a huge step. He feels very Jason Robertson to me... just got to throw him a Roope.

I genuinely hope to be proven wrong by both of you, but I don't see this at all. Looks like Camalleri with a worse shot and less grind. I thought he was dismal multiple times this year and wanted him sent down sooner.
However, I was of the mind that we should have traded him after last years' wjc, when I thought he was at his high point in value. I also think there's a distinct chance that he won't want to be here long term if he is successful.

Well, it happens. Seems to be with some frequency too. Will the Flames finally be the ones to cash in ? That's a whole other thing altogether.
I can see NJ doing it. They need a bonafide starter. They know it, the whole world knows it. Up to them which way they go to address it.
My hair brained NJ deal is 10 and Holtz for a 50 percent retained Markstrom. A 3 million dollar Markstrom for two years has that value.

I still think this is only if Demidov and Lindstrom are both gone, which maybe the Habs are assuming they both are.
Demidov
Lindstrom
Iginla
Sennecke
is how I see their forward list (based on rumors of course)
That or its all posturing
I'd have agreed with you except we've heard nothing anywhere about Lindstrom, whereas we have heard since before the season ended the Habs were all over Iggy junior.
At this point if they don't select him, I'd be shocked.

I've seen tons about Lindstrom all over their media channels

Late 1st for Markstrom is pretty in line with other goalie trades. 10th overall would need to be Markstrom+the van pick minimum and I still don't think they'd do it.

I don’t think there was much smoke around Reinbacher last year. It was all Michkov
He's sounds prepared for anything whenever he makes his debut in the NHL from that interview. I love that he seems pretty humble still, and loved that he's already playfully mentioning that he's going to have to chip away at Jarome's career numbers.
Dammit, the emotional side just wants me to see him in the Flaming C now. Seeing him play in another market, let alone a Canadian one, would just not sit great. And a very mature young kid that has so many mannerisms that remind you of Jarome.

Love how he says “they’re there at pick 9 or whatever it is”. He totally knows where they pick, just seems like he’s trying to downplay it. I liked how he seems genuinely excited at the possibility rather than brushing it off and saying something like “wherever I go will be exciting”

He was a 20yo rookie and his shot looks great.
We need to be patient with guys like him as he needed time to get used to a more demanding schedule that he wasn't used to in college.
