The problem is it didn't seem that Copeland was comfortable doing it / was maybe worried about hurting both himself and Malakai by jumping into the barbed wire.

Seemed like maybe it was supposed to be more of a splash than an elbow drop and he got second thoughts once he was up there.

He never seemed sure of himself up there, and you could tell he kind of bailed on it half way which is what led to the awkward landing.

Unfortunate for Copeland but honestly those are the types of "unneccessary" spots that AEW (and WWE) need to avoid. In the end that spot added absolutely nothing to what was already a fun match, and now he's hurt for no reason. No reason for a guy like Copeland to be in that position at his age, and with his injury history.

Copeland should just retire. Live out your days with a long and healthy life. As should Bryan and Jericho...

Funny how out of everyone in AEW Jericho is the one who hasn't sustained a major injury (to the best of my memory).

Jericho also tends to put himself in safe spots and tell stories in other ways...I can't recall him doing any real crazy spots in AEW.

But really guys like Edge, Danielson, Christain, Jericho, should all be working more of a part time schedule. No need to be doing the grind week after week at this point.

Well that was Stadium Stampede, so technically not the same match, but Stadium Stampede is one of my all-time favourite AEW matches so I largely agree.

I still think they should do Stadium Stampede once a year as more of pre-taped made for TV type of match.

Think you could pop ratings and also give your guys a week off of dynamite...do it on the Dynamite before US Thanksgiving every year.

Jordynne Grace shows up on NXT to challenge Perez for the Title.

Pretty cool that WWE is doing their own crossover. I'm interested to watch, as I've heard great things about her in TNA.

Just for those that hadn't seen Copelands injury.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1794922922844541282

He should have waved this off, it wasn't needed, it was already a good match, and landing feet first off of that jump showed that he was not feeling good about the jump.

The cage and barbed wire was the gimmick of this match.

He didn't look comfortable, at the age of 50 this was a unnecessary injury.

She's very talented, she got good charisma. She's a unique body type. I've seen her body change very quickly, and it always comes back to the question of if she's on the gas.

Her and Perez should be able to put on a really good match.

Also not the first time for a cross over, Grace entered the Rumble.

Cool appearance, but meh. More importantly Ethan Page debuted as well. Could be a good fit for a depleted NXT roster.

Sounds like there was chaos backstage at All or Nothing on the weekend, with Tony making changes at the last minute.

Also rumors that the deal offered for Dynamite renewal rights is lower than they were hoping for. Meltzer/AEW quickly denied said rumors, so we'll have to see what happens there.

People that are connected to the entertainment and television industry outside the wrestling industry are saying AEW is not getting the money they expected from WBD, a company that is going through and slashing their budgets. They're turfing things that have been staples of their channels, like NBA coverage. The expectation is that if AEW stays with WBD, it will be for less money than anticipated. They do mention that another network may make a large offer if the AEW/WBD talks go past the exclusivity date.

People in the wrestling industry (mostly just AEW's own Baghdad Bob, Dave Meltzer) are saying that AEW is still likely going to get the big pay day that they have been talking about for the last year, bucking the WBD trend of cutting.

Bryan Alvarez' heel turn on AEW was not something I foresaw.

It will be interesting to see.

I think AEW could get a bigger deal from another company in the short term, but part of me feels like that could be an issue longer term.

WBD, TNT, and TBS have really been a great partner for AEW and have given them a lot more freedom and promotion than other companies might have. They've supported with cross promotion on stuff like House of Dragons and promoted AEW on their NBA broadcasts. Gotten extra air time for stuff like Battle of the Belts. Even just how much freedom for stuff like blood and other things in their programs has allowed them to differentiate their product vs WWE.

Maybe they get more money from another company, but I could see that company not providing nearly as much support and freedom as WBD has provided and it actually ends up hurting AEW long term.

Think they have to be careful here to not try to overplay their hand.

This was very much like WWE in the late 2010's where WWE got into the booking on the fly, and wrestlers hated it, and you got really inconsistent story lines, or dropped storylines or stuff that just came from nowhere. It lead to a lot of repackaging on the fly too.

After the attitude era, Vince went whole hog on last minute changes and edits.

Eric really was the creator of it in WCW when he was doing commentary and watching WWE on a TV under the desk and sending frantic notes changing storylines to the back, and he got addicted to it.

I'm not as concerned about it with AEW, but I expect that the issue is making people in the back crazy. I'm more of the mind that the workers don't seem to listen to the agents or producers in the back and that's why we're getting a lot of these just mind boggling stupid injuries and unnecessary risks.

I think the rating drops are going to factor in, as well as the drops in the key demo, and the attendance issues. They'll get a deal, but any network is probably not going to want a long term deal.

I mean WCW was a huge property, and they basically had their own network, and they eventually ended up paying Turner for not meeting promised advertising views. Its one of the reasons why Turner ended its TV deal when Eric was trying to buy it.

You do bring up a good point, look at what happened when WWE left TNN and ECW thought they'd hit gold in getting a national TV deal only to find out that TNN had been soured by what they saw as an out of control WWE, and tried to assert maximum control over ECW.

I think getting a good streaming deal from someone like Paramount could be good for both the streaming company and AEW.

Who knows, maybe Amazon makes a move for them to counter WWE on Netflix.
