Surprising lack of Hamonic in this thread. I didn’t follow the team closely in the 2000s but since 2015 no d-man that played more minutes than him sucked more. Guy sucked.

Goalie wise? Brian Elliott is up there for me. Cratered a hopeful season outside of a 10-game stretch and then lost a playoff series all on his own.
 |
That almost certainly has to be the worst playoff performance of all time, by any player.

If our goaltending was merely 15th worst, and not 16th worst, out of 16, we are probably up 3-1 in that series, instead of being swept. If we have even average goaltending, we sweep that series.

That's what I think. Has to be at least one 40 game season to indicate a regular roster spot.

There were a lot of minor league call-ups (particularly when there was a run of injuries) that don't really count.

Probably not the worst ever given some of the names already posted. But I think an honorable mention has to go to 2000-2001 Flames stalwart and coach's son, Dwayne Hay.
49gp 1g 3a. He went to the minors the year after. Don Hay lasted 68games as coach.

My instant reaction was Butler.. SO frustrating and SO much ice time, wasn't he -8 in one game or something. Just a brutal brutal player. Also beyond terrible: Neal, Rob Neidermeyer (just because he skated around and never did anything and I had high expectations)
Also honorable mentions for Brouwer, and Elliott..

What a bad take (and spelling too)!

German Titov played on the line with Fleury and Iginla, scored 28 goals in one season here and was great to play on the same line with - as mentioned by many players including Jagr. Not 100% sure now, but Titov/Fleury’s line was referred to as the TNT line (I admit forgetting about who was the N there)…

Babchuk did not have a lot of time here but a bomb of a shot from the blue line and played his minutes honestly for a 2/3rd pairing guy.
