I'm less concerned about player confidence and more concerned that, much like the Canes style of "SHOOT ALL THE THINGS!", a seven game series will see teams key on this strategy and find ways to nullify it. You're seeing the Predators just make sure there are less and less clean shooting lanes and more and more.

This is the anti Sutter system lol. Shot volume is king for him. 25 attempts on net in a game, he would have lost it.

Yup.

It’s hard to find the perfect system, but again not everyone is built like Colorado but transitioning with speed in numbers allows you to open lanes naturally and also apply pressure with speed and volume.

That was the issue with the Flames. They would transition and fire useless shots from far out that would be one and done.

Not allowing guys to get to the net to get a rebound and shooting into the goalies crest.

I’m just looking this Islanders goal. A bad angle to shoot from but he made the goalie throw out a bad rebound which led to a goal.

Huh? If you have a clear look on net, you'll reflexively shoot it. If you have a bad look on net, you'll reflexively make a pass or hold possession.


These are NHL players. The best in the world. They're already not reflexively taking bad shots. What a silly take.

Well I can't think of a scenario that is worse than this for the Canucks. I wonder whether DeSmith was injured when whatshisname was assessed the two minutes for goaltender interference. That would explain why the NHL felt the need to assess a fine.

Either way though - that is a tough loss for any team, let alone a team struggling as much in the offensive zone as the Canucks are.

Adin Hill was a much more proven NHL goaltender than Silovs though who is almost 4 years younger with significantly less NHL experiences than Hill. This is the Alibaba version of what Vegas went through last year I suppose.

Although Silovs did win the MVP at the world championships less than a year ago so maybe he is a player who thrives on pressure and will turn into the next 1986 Patrick Roy.
