They should shut him down, let him recover and ideally keep him in Calgary for the whole offseason. He needs to build a lot of muscle and fill out his frame. Flames definitely need to take a hands on approach from this point forward. I think he is a unique prospect that may have a unique trajectory. He has got to be at least 200 pounds next season. 185 is far too light for his frame

		| “It was pretty much a tough season,” said Honzek, who averaged just shy of a point per game when he was in the Giants’ lineup. “Started with an injury, then played five games and then left for world juniors, so I wasn’t with the team for two weeks and then I was gone. And then I came back and first game back, I got injured again, but an injury that I could play with. So nothing bad, but it still affects your mind.
“It was a really up-and-down season. I would say I’m not happy with my performance in some games. But that’s hockey and I need to work on it. Especially in the summer coming up, I need to really dial it in.”

“I believe in myself and I really want to push myself this summer and to fight for the Flames,” Honzek said. “And if that doesn’t go well, I want to really make the Wranglers.

“I just want to be focusing on here and I want to stay here for next year. So I’m going to do all I can for that.”

So he was healthy for 5 games.
So much for the wild takes here. Maybe we should evaluate him when he gets some solid time in without being plagued by something.

Hit the heavy irons Honzek. Only way to prevent injury is to beef up.

A lot of takes are regarding his inability to stay healthy which is a legit take. He’s missing important development time.

Big two games vs. Abbotsford. Wranglers could conceivably take sixth place in the division and change the seedings.

Why are they trying to play him if he is still injured?

That won’t be until he adds 20-30 lbs of muscle. He was a boy vs men in penticton. He’s got a ways to go before he’s anywhere near the Flames.

It looks like Lipinski and Morin gained some weight this season, but Honzek did not. Lipinksi is now 20 lbs heavier than Honzek.

It will be good once he gets the AHL as the Flames development staff can better keep up with him. I still believe that this kid has the skill, the IQ, the motor and the size to be an extremely effective player. It will take more than a season in which he was nursing an injury for most of it to change my mind.
