My worry is there's going to be a bunch of musical dream sequences. At least that's the vibe the trailer is giving me.

It's a jukebox musical with at least 15 songs in it.

Joker was essentially a treatise upon mental illness that leaned on some backstory. Watching that trailer? What is that movie even about?

It kind of looks like a con.

Honestly, the trailer makes it look not as bad as the concept I was envisioning. Some of the music may not be actually sung by them and function more as an ongoing soundtrack.

I thought the trailer looked good too but the hints of all the musical/dance numbers has me really, really hesitant about this one.

I'm not anti-musical either but to shoehorn it into a Joker movie is a turn off for me.

I actually really like musicals and loved the last Joker movie, but as mentioned I'm just worried that the musical scenes will be overused as daydreams or dream sequences where you're always unsure of what is really happening. Either way, I'll give Todd Phillips the benefit of the doubt, plus the visuals look incredible. I'll be buying at ticket opening weekend.

Yeah that trailer made me think the whole thing about it being a full blown musical isn’t true. Because I liked that trailer. But knowing it’s a musical makes it tough to stomach.

I thought it looked really good from that trailer. If anything being musical-ish makes me more interested than just some generic sequel.

It somewhat makes sense. The Joker was about a man who would constantly imagine that he was on talk shows or putting on successful stand up shows. If he meets someone with a more musical focus, that would translate into imaginary musical numbers.

Catherine O'Hara says if people don't like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 'then f--- them'

Anything that rejuvenates Tim Burton is fine by me.

"I'll tell you this," Keaton said onstage of the sequel, invoking Beetlejuice's voice. "It's really f---ing good."

"This cast is so good," he added, sharing that he'd watched the sequel twice so far. "Everyone is so friggin' funny. It's unbelievable how funny these guys are."

"I was very nervous to see if we could pull it off again," he admitted, "but every day got more and more fun."

I found Joker to be so disturbing. Watched it with my wife and we both left in silence and didn't talk about it for a couple of hours. We both felt that we watched a movie about our nephew. Everything about that character we saw in our nephew. He went away for a while and he's much better now but he shows signs of reverting to old ways. Makes me scared to watch Joker 2 to relive those feelings.
 I also hate musicals.

It's hard to know because the studios don't like promoting musicals as musicals these days.

That was one of the big criticisms of the promotion for the new Mean Girls. From the trailer, you'd have no idea it was a musical.

Like Sliver’s thing about “fake quirky.” It’s whatever the “dark” version of that and this just looks like more of the exact same thing. I’m struggling to figure out where they even have to go with it that would be remotely interesting.
 |
Joker was a thinly veiled allegory about mental illness that used shades of popular intellectual property to sell itself.

I dont know how this one plans on following that up.

But watching that trailer? I'm pretty well in agreement. It looks like a stylistic musical vaguely using popular characters to...? Yeah. I'm in no rush to see this one.

K, but why Lady Gaga for that role...
Edit: Oh because it will be a musical. Got it.

I like the idea of a musical starring the Joker and Harley. It feels like something TAS would do as a Christmas episode or something.
