Phrasing.

I don't think it's Impospisil to believe he should be available as part of a trade. Just need to make sure its for something that could move the needle for this rebuild

Sucking is sucking. Whether the team is hard or soft - they suck all the same. If Pospisil is a difference maker in a trade that could possibly turn into a foundational impact player? You move ‘em.
Maybe you could even get a more expensive Pospisil!

Surely we could find a 3rd line 10-15 goal scorer that is big, mean and angry on the free agent market for $5.5M per year.

Has to be a proven 10-15 goal scorer to make sense. At age 29-31 on a max term deal.

The cap is going up!

Someone with good draft pedigree (that they haven’t lived up to), a recognizable name, and one bound to be a big difference maker (in being able to stay under the cap).

I’d toss in a NMC for checking off all those boxes. Especially if he’s reported to have great confidence and be in the best shape ever.

For sure, you really need to give them comfortable job security to get the best performance out of them. Also a former cup winner is a good idea. They know how to win, and you never see any of them lose that drive after the accomplishment.

Except for Coleman. Love that guy. He’s the exception.

Frolik, and Versteeg were great too.

You'd think Hudler was on some sort of focus juice or something with how determined he was.

The Flames really need to trade Coleman in the off-season. His value will never be higher and I doubt he would repeat the same success next season - he has already dropped off significantly.

Why would his value never be higher if he’s already dropped off significantly?

Because I think he will probably continue to regress. I also think there may be a market in the off-season for a player who had a cumulative 30 goals this season.

Not sure if that same market exists for a 15 goal player next season.

Leadership, work ethic, PK the list goes on with this guy, even at 15 goals Coleman is a very important player for this team.

Don't they already have enough leadership with:
Huberdeau
Kadri
Backlund
Andersson
Weegar
Markstrom
Kuzmenko

... sounds like pretty good leadership on a team that should be rebuilding ...

Especially Kadri and Huberdeau. Should be enough for any new young player.

I'd rather keep Coleman than any of em.

You would rather keep Coleman than Weegar? That seems silly.

As Flames fans, we seem to grasp onto players that are support utility players and tag them as important.

Those types of players don’t matter until you have the star players that they can support, and their presence on the roster may actually prevent a team from acquiring the required star players.

Coleman is a 3rd line player on a Stanley Cup contender, and paying UFA rates for players like that makes thing tricky going forward. Coleman should be traded this Summer, but I imagine he won’t be as there seems to be some deep rooted belief that a 3rd line player is going to critical to building this team back up…and ultimately, he won’t be.

…and then when you have the star players, you don't have the support players, and you wind up being Edmonton.

You can draft skill. You can't draft experience.
