Man, looks like I missed the worst of it in Chestermere I love storms.
I love the thunder and lightning display too.

Is Calgary a thunder alley? Still nothing here in High River. Weird!

We were working just east of Strathmore, and as the clouds approached, they started twisting in a circle... nothing major, but I was so mad I didn't have my D80... if there was a tornado, I would have been so mad to have not had the cam... anyway, a shoddy cellphone cam should do. Again, nothing at all.. about 20mins after this, we got nailed by super rain and hail.

After viewing it again, you really can't see the rotation because of the quality. Sorry.

Video still processing, should be up soon.

Bit of a scary ride home. Heading down Macleod got to 9th only to find that a bunch of cars were stuck under the overpass as it was flooded.

Went down to 5th - same thing

Went down to 10th - train stuck

Tried 8th and it seemed a bit better. But the guy in front of me didn't make. Stopped halfway through. As the water surrounded my car I made went around him and got through.

Good thing my Saturn sits a little higher than most sedans. I think that was the difference between getting through and not getting through.

Don't drive tonight if you don't have to.

Yeah, there sure was rotation. I was on the east side of the city near Deefoot Casino and we were just on the very edge of the storm. I watched it develop from about 5:30 till 7:30 and there was definate rotation. I think if there had have been more energy in the atmosphere today we could have had a good tornado for sure. And not a whimpy cold air funnel, the real deal.

I have a message from a buddy that there was one spotted around Edmonchuk today, havent checked it out yet.

EDIT: I should add, there is some really weird stuff going on in the province right now. Looks like these things could pop up basically out of nowhere and they dont seem to be moving very fast (part of the reason the city is so flooded right now).

Ah, how I missed Calgary.

Was dining at Ginger Beef Peking House in Willow Park during most of the storm. Bonaventure Drive was a lake in at least two spots that we saw.

Heard one big bang while we were in the restaurant.

Varsity union unite! THAT was a hell of a storm. Driving home from school this evening was nuts . . . must have been fork lightning every 15 seconds. I don't even understand the power that it must take to generate all that.

Sucks to be a smoker right now, I don't smoke in my house and the rain is pelting my south facing front door...I know, I know, no sympathy from the folks on CP.

Edit: Atleast I have my PVR so I could watch TV if I chose. With this storm, I'd rather have the TV off though.
Goto your kitchen, turn on the fan above your stove/range. Sit next to it and smoke. All the smoke gets sucked into it. It works even if it's noisy.
