It's weird with Lindstrom - depending on which draft rankings you look at, Lindstrom can be as high as #3 or as low as #13 behind Tij. Tij has consistently been around 9-11 - so around 10th overall.

Not a chance of that happening.

If the Flames had the 3rd pick, and want Iginla that badly, you trade down with someone in the 7-10 range.

Getting Iggy Jr should be a priority for the team. If they an get Lindstrom, that would be HUGE. If they can't get celebrini or Lindstrom, I think they have to get one of the top D prospects. They all look so good, it would be hard to pass on then to reach for Iggy too early. Hopefully, they can trade Markstrom to the devils for their pick and pick Iggy with that.

With NJD also likely having a pick in the 10-12 range, I think there is huge potential for a draft day trade between them.

Lindstrom screams one of those guys that a team picks early. Iginla may be in a similar situation come draft day. So the Flames may need to trade up to have a shot at either of them.

One reason Iginla goes earlier is that there are so many D at the top of the rankings and for a lot of teams, that's just not a sexy pick.

Not a sexy pick but D always goes higher in the NHL draft than in mocks.
And coming off a weak year for D (2023) there could be more demand for those prospects. I think 6 D could go in the top 10.

At least 4 for sure, maybe 5. Which is a lot for top 10. I cant see 6 going in top 10 though. Too much good Forward talent.

Does anyone know how the updated draft lottery works for a team that wins the first overall pick in consecutive years? I.e. the Oiler rule?
Chicago currently owns the league's worst record. Are they automatically pushed down in the draft lottery in the event they finish last because they got Bedard last year?

Fitzgerald actually seemed annoyed we didn't take whatever it was he offered.

I just don't see him coming back in the offseason and offering a top pick for a 34 year old goalie.

Yeah, based on his trajectory over this season, I would not be shocked to see Tij go between 6-10. He has been rising all year and teams are going to be considering that. You don't just draft players for what they are at that moment, but for what you think they can become.

The Flames are likely drafting between 8-12 is my guess. There is a chance he will be available to the Flames, but I wouldn't bet on it either.

The present mocks have a ton of D in the top 10 and maybe two full time centres. I could see some of those D sliding and Iginla has moved up 6-10 spots already in the past couple months. He could end up being a real climber.

That said, I can also see Flames fans getting too attached to the one prospect.

I think it is just they can't win the lottery more than twice in five years

I think we end up taking Tij. He has the talent to back up the perceived nepotism, and I think management and ownership will recognize how big it can be for the fans. The jersey sales alone will pay for the arena

I think the Flames need center depth more than D right now. Conroy picked up quite a few just not too long ago.
