DC rules. I went there 3 different times when I was working in Nick Fotiu's neck of the woods and loved it. So much history. I could have spent the whole day at the Lincoln Memorial. A very powerful place.
And Flames_09, I didn't know your ages so maybe Vegas wouldn't be the best option.

Really? What's not to like? One of the densest downtown areas around packed with amazing sky scrapers, historic buildings, museums, restaurants, a waterfront, and a couple sports stadiums. Not to mention the tallest building in the world (by antenna height... for now). Just standing under Sears and looking up made it worth going there for me.

Looks like we're going to Anaheim, if anyone has hotel recommendations and travel agencies that we should book with I would appreciate it, also if anyone knows a great place to get tickets to all the attractions beforehand I'd love you forever, please and thank you. The close second was Orlando but two of the people going had already been there so they didn't like that idea, thanks everyone for responding.

If you can, attend a TV taping. I saw Two and a Half Men being taped last year and it was a lot of fun - and free. www.tvtickets.com is one website where you can go and get tickets. I could have also seen some game shows like Deal or No Deal but didn't have the time.
For shopping, Santa Monica (3rd street promenade), Fashion Island in Newport Beach and there's a good outdoor mall in Orange as well (called "The Block at Orange").
Plan to rent a car for at least a few of the days. Renting a car is pretty cheap, $30-40 a day. You'll need one if you want to check out Venice Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Monica, go to a Dodgers game, etc. You'll save a ton on cab fares.

LA's possibly #1 I'd have to say. You could stay sober the entire time and still have fun.
It's probably different than it was when I was there, back in August 2002, but of all the U.S. cities I've been to, I had the most fun in N'awlins.

San Francisco for me. Has it all- stuff for families, tourists, shoppers, geeks/freaks, and everyone in between. Beautiful, historic, weird, and bursting at the seams with culture.

Anything from San Francisco to Monterrey is amazing. You could definitely pack two weeks into that trip - be sure to check out the vineyards in the Napa Valley. It's very picturesque.
As for livable cities, I would say San Fran, Portland (Oregon), and Seattle. Those three cities really impressed me.

Well, no trip would be complete without a visit to Mianus
Mianus is usually quite temperate; with highs in the 90's. There is often a prevailing wind that blows out Mianus; and you may spot the occasional grizzly bear.
