Speaking with the salespeople in the different showhomes, the one was telling us they had sold all their lots in the current area (I'm assuming that was Crossings West) but they would have more lots to the east, so that is probably the other you were mentioning. She also said Qualico was doing the area immediately west, and that to the south they would get more lots, but not for another year or so. Then there is, of course, Boulder Creek.

The one thing that had me thinking was she mentioned that the new areas may be under stricter controls and may have smaller lots. I hope not.

Well if you are in the market for a pre-owned home. Mine will be up for sale in a few months (assuming the builder gets things moving on our new place)

I agree about the smaller lots. Hopefully that doesnt happen. I still believe that the lots will be a good size. I really dont want to see wall to wall garages like you find in the city areas. Actually having front windows and entry ways you can see is sure nice.

I've never actually been, but is there any trees there? It seems the further east you get, even in the city limits, the less rain, and less trees.

my brother and his wife just built a house there and they love it. got a larger house and a much larger lot for what the same money would have gotten them in the city, and since they both work in the south the commute is easy for them. the one negative is the cable company if that is important to you. the local company (Platinum) is years behind Shaw as far as technology goes and the service is terrible. they called to get internet and TV hooked up, but day of install the tech tells them that he can't do internet installations for some reason and they'd have to get a second appointment for that. well they do, but nobody shows up on the install date and no one from Platinum knew why or even seemed to care. then they continued to get dicked around and didn't get the internet installed for a few more weeks

small towns seem to be very bad for things like that as there is no competition for the local cable company. as for the service itself, they don't offer HDTV and the signal quality for the regular channels is terrible. for the internet, the speeds are very slow and they limit you to 10gb per month for bandwidth. the only positive that i can see is with Langdon growing so much, eventually they should get to the point where it's profitable for Shaw to buy out Platinum and take over

I'd stay with Starchoice, but I've gotten used to high speed internet so I guess I should look into that a bit more.

You also might want to look into wireless internet options. For example I know Rogers has one that is the about the same price as Shaw. The only thing is IIRC it only works in the city.

There may be other options, and there are satellite internet options available too.

Hulkrogan: Yes there is some trees. The park in the middle of town has several large mature trees. Not a lot of large trees in the community though as most homes are less than 10 years old.

Re: Cable. I dont know why anyone would bother using the local cable supplier for TV. Starchoice and Bell are far superior options.

Re: Internet. High speed through the cable provider is actually quite good. There was a period of time where service was poor, but it has improved drastically. I am able to play any online game with great ping speeds. Apparently the wireless provider also claims good speed rates. I just dont really want a receiver mounted on my roof. But at least there are options.
