I’ve wondered about Christian Kyrou. RHD, former 2nd round pick, 16 points in 43 games in his rookie AHL season so far.
2nd + Kyrou?

My favourite running theme on this site has to be your love of Russian prospects.
You have to be the only person that would prefer Groshnikov to Maverik Bourque.

The Athletic did label them the best drafting team in the league. Interesting that they have Stankoven and a bunch of quality guys after him and are already one of the best teams in the league.
They can load up and be the favs to win it all IMO.

It was tongue in cheek.
Obviously you take the RHS 20 year old center. Question is, is he available for Tanev??
But the D prospects would be between Kyrou and Groshnikov IMO. And if you're looking to maybe fill an LHD need , I wouldn't complain.

A late 2nd and Christian Kyrou would be terrible value.
Kyrou isn’t very good, tops out as a 6th D projection…
I’d rather an early 2nd or late first, glad Conroy is holding out if that’s the offer currently.

Given that he has been productive in the minors and was drafted in the 1st round (albeit 30th), I am surprised he hasn't received any NHL action yet. Not even a call-up.
Is it just a numbers game with him? They seem to have a lot of guys listed as centers, but I'd still think he would have had a look by now being a 1st rounder from 2020.
Having said that, Bourque and a 2nd is probably fair for Tanev. A second tier prospect and 2nd rounder for pending UFA defenseman seems about right.

Well the good news is you have to assume that at some point Conroy will just take the highest 2nd being offered.
not ideal but adding a 2nd to the draft capital ain't bad.
And then re-sign Tanev back in the summer.

Bourque has exceeded expectations so far has certainly has more value than a late first, his value is likely roughly equivalent to a 10-15 pick in the first round.
I would without a shadow of a doubt accept just Bourque for a retained Tanev. Firsts are cool and all but they are lottery picks. If Bourque continues his progression he likely ends up a very solid second line scoring forward.
We need skill, we need creativity, we need players who play with pace and we need players with high end hockey IQ, Bourque brings all of that.

They have a pretty good forward group and Bourque is a guy that needs to be placed in offensive roles. So he's just caught in the numbers game.
Which is why Bourque for Tanev just makes sense. Dallas deals from their position of strength to address their need (blueline).
I would do it 1:1 easily.

Bourque for tanev would be a dream.
I could see it being a conditional 1st or a deal like 2nd+grushnikov

It honestly will suck to not see Tanev with the Flaming C anymore. I love having him on the team. One of my all time favorite Calgary Flames. He's the one guy I really am not excited about trading.

Signing him has been fantastic. For a deal that seemed to have some risk, he's delivered above value through the life of the contract, and will yield an asset on the way out.
A nice little bit of business.
I also posted this because using the phrase "a nice little bit of business" is a nice little bit of business.

If Dallas is leading then it has to be a 2nd and picks or prospects
Because their 2nd is not very attractive alone
