Everything I have heard leads me to believe Kadri does not want to move from Calgary. He is loving it here and feels the direction of the team is really good.

Obviously things don't happen in a vacuum and it's a big game of chicken right now, but I'd feel much better with a Holtz return from NJ if we knew for certain Lundell was already in the fold. Just hope we're not the ones at the crappy end of deals when all said and done.

But the risk of the return getting weaker and the impact on that Montreal 1st rounder has me wanting it done now.
Couldn't agree more! I would take a first + either of those guys too.

I love to hear that, honestly. His contract is what it is, but the chemistry he has with Zary and Pospisil, you can see he's good for them and they're good for him and with the team moving in a younger direction on most fronts, let's keep those two learning from Kadri for a few years as they continue to establish themselves as consistent NHLers. The strides the two kids have made this year already has been astounding, and Kadri's done a great job working with them.

Watch them trade markstrom and make the playoffs in front of Darth and the Wolf pup.

Suppose it comes down to what the Flames feel is the future of Connor Zary. If you project him as a center then you could probably go for Holtz assuming you project Holtz as more than a 20 goal guy on the wing. If not then you are in no rush to trade Markstrom for a position it appears the Flames may have depth at. (Wings)

I don't know if you necessarily need to account for Zary's position anyway because ideally, even if he's a centre, you're probably looking at trying to draft a blue-chip centre to push Zary down into the 2 spot. And that's not intended as a knock on Zary at all.

Take who your scouts think will be the better player. I wouldn't worry about position at this point. Zary has had a strong rookie year but I wouldn't be automatically penciling him just yet.

Not at all a fan of Lindell after he took such a hard fall this year. I’d much rather have a guy who the scouts are big on like Mercer. The fact that Fla appears to want to pawn the guy off tells me something is wrong. But with him the centrepiece of a deal, and them getting an extended Hanifin, seems like another attempt at an opportunistic ripoff by them. Gotta give us some upside. Lundell, 1st (2026), 2nd.

Lundell is a young player and is behind some good forwards in Florida. Normal for production to fall off as a player learns to play better in other areas. He'd be a 60 point two way centre in no time with some opportunity and maturation.

I think the Panthers are doing everything they can to hold onto Lundell.

What about Ekblad? What if there was a three way deal? Maybe the Sens take on Ekblad and we get futures from the Sens? Ekblad makes way more sense for the Sens than the rumored Tanev.

They’ve got to re-sign so many players and I would imagine the Ekblad cap would need to go if there is any hope on acquiring Hanifin.

I don't really understand why Lundell would be off limits to FLA if they believe Noah Hanifin fills a need for them.

Similar situation with Mercer. Both guys are buried down their line ups presently. They must really believe in each's upside.

Mercer is playing with Hughes and Toffoli.

You have it Backwards, Flames want Lundell for Hanifin. If the Panthers were sluffing him off , the deal would be done by now. The Panthers do not want to give him up. Thing is, they don't really have any more assets to package up to equate to the Flames asking price.

I think it's important to remember that there is still time before the trade deadline. Teams are not going to put in their best offers yet, they are trying to get the best deal for themselves too. Patience is key here, better offers will come.

Ekblad is pretty bad and the Sens are just as strapped. They are not giving up futures for him.

Recently someone posted he was seeing 9 minutes on the 3rd/4th line. Sounds like he's bouncing around a lot.

It's an opinion. I'm saying that I would be happy with either. My opinion has zero bearing on what those GMs are thinking.

Don't know why you would make a point of bringing it up when you know full well the context of the entire post says that.
