Really appreciate the insider info and cryptic but well thought out GIFs, Sec.
I'm taking to just mean that he's getting nervous as his team's playoff chances fade. Will he fold under pressure? That's the real question.

I would think that their fading playoff hopes would cause disappointment and frustration more than nervousness. Being in a situation in which you aren't in control makes you nervous.

And maybe Fitzgerald’s in Arizona because he wants Arizona to just do it, i.e. take draft picks in return for retaining some of Markstrom’s salary, to facilitate the trade between Calgary and New Jersey? And this is why the deal is complex and difficult to negotiate?

I hope not. Why can’t we buy the draft picks? Don’t cheap out, Flames.

I think flames are willing to do full retention here, Conroy just wants a high price for it and good on him for pushing for it. Markstrom for 2 years and the rest of this year at 3 mill AAV is crazy good value. The fact that one of the all time greats in Brodeur is pushing for markstrom and not quietly btw, to me makes it easier for Conroy to get his price.

Haha I recognized Fitz right away, but that was subtle enough that it could have been a coincidence. I love it

A Flames team that has a 90 point Huberdeau and made the playoffs last year and was on track to make the playoffs this year does not trade Markstrom. It is almost unheard of for a non-playoff team to have a stud goalie, they are almost always on playoff teams. That is why they don’t get traded.
Goalies become available at UFA time all the time though. Why, because there is always another one coming behind them. Teams that don't have good ones have options. Markstrom became available because of Demko and now available again because of Wolf.

If the Flames were asking for some crazy, unreasonable price, negotiations would never have gone as far as they did.

I'll never understand why people make up their own narratives for these things
Retention has value, so if they couldn't agree on that they didn't have anything agreed on.

Conroy - I want Mercer and a 1st for Markstrom

Fitzgerald - Sure, but I want 50% retained.

Conory - Can I do it straight up.

Fitzgerald - Sorry, can't pay that without salary retained.

Doesn't sound like they agree

Why make other posters feel bad about themselves? I’ll never understand.

Just to be clear….No one wants to read your posts. No one.

Been here a long time. This is the first time I’ve told someone to gtfo.

We're guaranteed some potentially franchise-altering trades in the next two weeks.. and they could happen at any moment. Trades that could play into defining the next 10-15 years as the team moves into a new rink.

Hold on to your butts.

Stankoven healthy Scratched. AHLs leading Scorer.

Trade? Feels like a trade. It's a trade isn't it?
