See this is the first rebuttal I would expect if a deal doesn't get done, but it's already happening. "We don't know what was on the table...maybe it was just a 2nd round pick...we don't know anything".
It's just a natural defense mechanism to convince yourself to not get hurt over a missed opportunity.
Based on all the info that was provided, you can pretty much have a damn good idea of what's already on the table. Probably Holtz. Probably a pick.

You know I just wish posters who couldn’t have fun with the fact that a extremely well liked player around the league who we were lucky enough to have not just become a fan of our team and city but a true ambassador of Calgary while he played here for parts of his career and came back here after (as an American I might add, which as Nicholas Cage would describe it, is high praise) is now steering the ship of our collective beloved team and seemingly in the right direction. Sit back and enjoy, don’t get too high or too low, and have some fun with it. If you can’t do that why ruin it for all the other posters that are enjoying this current timeline… and can you friggen blame us after the free fall from the Edmonton series? Good god.

Let’s just say it was Holtz and a pick. Also sounds like retention had something to do with the deal not yet being realized. What are we talking about? 10%, 20%, 50%?
The same defence mechanism you’re alluding to goes the other way as well. Saying Conroy missed an opportunity without knowing what the opportunity actually was seems bit shortsighted, no?
Seems like Conroy played his cards well with Lindholm, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Deadlines two weeks away.
