Because it's possible no one is offering a 1st. I'm not arguing whether he is or isn't worth a 1st. The TDL is a silly season where you can see Ben Chiarot go for multiple good assets or you can see a still productive Patrick Kane being moved for a pile of beans.

Why? Is there anything to indicate that NJ has stepped up to close this deal? Maybe if the league is just trigger stamping this deal when the clock runs out at the stadium game, fine. But it's far more likely that this deal is simply close.

If he got hurt, that would suck, but there's reason to think the flames get as much in the offseason for him.

Teams don't sit players out/play the other goalie unless a deal is on the verge of being done.
