Wasn't really what the lines would be...more just a visual of what the depth would look like with Hanifin / Markstrom but without some of the guys rumored to be in the deals and if injured guys come back.

Forward lines are a mess for sure in that post, but the 2nd and 3rd pairs are what they've been rolling the last little bit due to injury.

I'd love to see a few of these types of conditional picks. It will make it easier to see the team dismantled and our players heading off to go for big playoff runs with other teams if we know that their success will benefit us directly through doing things like making a late second round pick into a late first round pick.

Most opposing GMs would probably allow it because once a pick is in the 28-32 range, it means they are in the conference / cup finals and they can likely concede that their rental player did the job to help get them there.

It's awful. Which explains why it won't happen.

The insiders rumors have been great, but the real thread winner came when Cortez suggested we'll pick up new defenseman from the D-partment store.

Offloading his contract in full means we’d have to throw picks into the deal. Nobody can fit his full salary under the cap anyway, so we have to retain money or take a bad contract back.

Some of the returns people in this thread seem to be expecting are ludicrous.

If the Flames get a massive return for Markstom will you and some others finally admit it was a good UFA signing?

Holtz or Mercer would be great additions to the retool and give us a legit top 6 forward at minimum as their potential

Vanacek has been a pretty good goalie most of his career except this year, he could even be flipped next year if he plays well again. Has a .905 career average.

Siengethaler is 26 and already decent enough to play the top 4 minutes and still could become even better. Especially with Tanev and Hanifin leaving, Siegenthaler is way better then Gilbert, Oestrele, Pachal to round out the top 4 on defence.

At worst we get a top 6 forward, top 4 defencemen and a backup goalie plus a pick for a 34 year old goalie.

I love Markstrom, but he has a shot at winning the cup and we have a chance to fast track our retool/rebuild

NJ has so many attractive pieces in their depth chart. They can take anyone they like from us and pay accordingly. I've liked most of the proposals talked about in recent days involving NJ. Can't wait for the deal to get done.

One player im curious about trading is Greer. Now with Pelltier, Rooney, Coronato, Duehr and Scwindt all good enough to play 4th line minutes, it creates a huge log jam on wingers.

Id gladly flip him to a team that needs depth for the playoffs for like a 4th or 5th. He has been great for us so far

He broke his foot, probably not a good playoff pickup.

Markstrom was basically a negative asset coming this season. Trading him for a bundle will be such a boon to this organization. A month ago I never thought they would trade Markstrom in-season. It seems so different when compared to the Flames organizations previous policy. Kudos to Conroy and the management team for finally seeking out positive gains such as these.

So Conroy has the elder wand and can win any trade against other GMs.
