I’ve seen this sentiment more than once and not sure where it comes from, injures players get traded all the time. Eichel and long term IR was traded for Tuch on long term IR, lol.

Yes he can. There's no rule against trading for injured players, which is a fairly common misconception.

I’ve been glued to CP the last couple days, bringing me back to my roots here and with the flames in general. Even if it doesn’t end up working out, I’m still thankful that you have been kind enough to share your inside knowledge as it has added a spark to my life the last couple days. There are a lot of people who appreciate you here.

I fully agree with this post. I’ve been a member of the board since before 2002, and this is the most I’ve hit F5 in a single day. Sec 214, I have no idea who you are IRL, but I almost want to buy everyone in section 214 a beer just to say thank you to you.

I personally am reconsidering sharing any information going forward not because I’m afraid to be wrong but it takes an effort by those with information to come here and share it far less than it is for you to come and consume it.
I’ve seen every single one of us be questioned, targeted ect by a consistent group of the community. The only people you’re impacting is your peers on this forum. I can share the information with my friends, family ect and enjoy the same level of excitement as I’m sure many of you get reading it.
I don’t need a thank you thread or thanks on my post to keep me motivated to contribute, I do it because I was know how passionate this sites fanbase are about the Calgary Flames and it brings me joy to share information happening behind the scene because I too was once in the dark waiting for the media heads to grace us with information.
Enjoy your weekend.

Hey Sec, that post was intended as a visual commentary on how brutal the comments get around what you guys contribute to the thread.
It's absolutely not meant to be taken as discouragement. Just a hyperbolic representation of derision towards those frowned upon replies that predictably pop up around here when the rumors don't pan out in the time frame expected
I don't like the rumor bashing when it happens. And that wasn't intended as that whatsoever.
Sorry to have posted something that could be unfortunately misinterpreted as posted earnestly.
You know I support what you guys are bringing to the speculation thread. Please don't stop on account of a mistep on my behalf. Sorry bud.

Got confused for a second, because I remember Edmonton trading an injured player. I think the problem with that though, is they kept it from the team they were trading him to (Smid?).

The only issue is if the injuries aren't properly disclosed, like when the Oilers traded Colin Fraser to LA for Ryan Smyth without disclosing that he was injured.
Even with that one, they eventually worked something out and the trade went through (and Fraser got a Stanley Cup or 2 out of it).

I think collectively as a fan base there is a TON of excitement that this team is actually committing to a path the majority of us dreamed of many times over. Management/ownership is touting this as a quicker retool style rebuild instead of a complete tear down but visually, and with this hold your breath Markstrom situation, it’s seemingly going to be much closer to the latter than the former.
There’s baked in skepticism for many flames fans, understandably so, but Conroy is a much different chef than we’ve been used to in the GM spot, he’s still very young and passionate about the league, an incredible scout in his own right and honestly probably loves this team more than anyone of us. Trust. Let the little golden nuggets these guys drop excite your fandom too, this is a different flavour and I’m excited by it!

The tidbits that have been dropped here are actually a great help to the Flames and the NHL in general for drumming up interest in the game. I guarantee you that flames marketing guys check this site, and they owe a nice scotch to anyone keeping us peasants this interested.
I like to think of the negative Nellie's, as oiler fans.

The 3-4 guys around him ?
Jets - Hellebuyck

Bruins - Ullmark
Those teams are tops in the NHL.

Markstrom is a decent goalie for sure, but nowhere near top three in the league. He's a top ten goalie at best, and with two years left at six million per season, his contract has little or no trade value if we don't retain half the money.

Robert Tiffen, a Dallas beat writer is banging the drum for a defense acquisition, and the name he threw out was bourque languishing in the A.

Bourque and a 2nd would be a massive “W” for Connie.

Little to no value is better than negative value where the Flames would have to include draft picks that you said a couple days ago, so it is moving in the right direction. My prediction is that he has even more value than “little” and certainly more value than none.

A team like Dallas has to go for it at some point. They have two more years of Oettinger and Johnston on good deals. Might make sense to go for it now.

FWIW my one source usually doesn’t give me anything, but decided to share that tidbit last night. I asked him today what’s going on and said that he had no idea, but the entire media press box was buzzing with this rumor last night before/during the game.
