Why are they keeping 8 defencemen on the roster? I presume any combo of Hanifin-Tanev-Andersson will be traded at any second...

Do Gilbert or Osterle need to clear waivers to go down?
Maybe don't want to risk making another hole while you're trying to trade other guys away... though I doubt either would get claimed so who knows.

I'm guessing because they don't want to lose either Oesterle or Gilbert to waivers, in case they would need bodies closer to the trade deadline.

Don't think it matters much.
Will be interesting when they name Vladar as the starter tomorrow though.
People are getting tense with no news but everything points towards this getting done in my mind.
Wolf with his "wasn't expected to start" was telling. Markstrom tossing pucks, and the chatter here of course.

Also, wasn't Zadorov traded on a game day, even after taking the morning skate?
Practicing isn't necessarily considered a high risk activity I would imagine.
