He knew that Huska was the hire a week before it happened, not sure if he's broken anything else since. Seems to personally know Vladar, based off past tweets.

Pure speculation on my part but my guess is they have lowered the retention % they were asking from the Flames but the Flames want zero retention so may not still get done.

And really for them they need to add a goalie, so if Flames aren't going to move Markstrom then you move to plan B

And really Flames should know by now if the deal is the best available thing on the market based on the offers they have compared to what the Devils were offering.
