Would love to see Wolf get one of these games in NY. Unfortunately, the timing is bad. If it was Rangers today and NYI Monday, I think it's a safe bet he gets the Islanders game. But I doubt they want to throw him in tomorrow, and they probably want Markstrom against the Rangers.
But we'll see.

I was expecting Markstrom to get Saturday off with it being a matinee less than 48 hours since the last start. Now I'm not sure with Wolf heading East today and it being like an 11AM start for him.

That certainly makes trading Markstrom more difficult.
If Vladar is out past the deadline, I'm guessing they're not going to want to let Wolf take the starter role without a capable backup to step in incase he gets lit up.

Won't make a difference in trading Markstrom if the return involves another goalie coming back. Not like the Flames are actually planning for a Cup run if they do indeed trade Markstrom and the other 2 d-men. Even if there's no goalie coming back and they need another call-up for a backup to Wolf, it's a good time to evaluate the goaltending needs and tank to the bottom. Win-win situation, frankly.

If Calgary is serious of getting into the playoff race, Vladar is likely a better option than Wolf.

Perception is all it takes to make the tanking look good  Plus, you build the team in front of the goalie so that the goalie doesn't mask the inadequacies of the team. Brand new perspective that you see with teams that actually have won with average to a bit above average goalies.
