If the rumor here is true, I hope Conroy moves fast to deal Tanev to NJ. Then have that division panic (including Treliving), and pay an arm and a leg for Hanifin.

Mercer has 1g and 2a in his last 10 games. 13g 10a and -13 inn 47 games.
That doesn't feel like an untouchable player. Young or not.

It does seem too good to be true for this team to trade everyone that should be traded.

While the right offer isn't on the table, Flames can afford to give Noah time to think about signing here. It doesn't mean he gets what he wants if he decides to stay though. If it's not a friendly contract, I don't see him staying here.

4th season as well. Sometimes the internet goes bananas with their hype machines and everyone jumps on. Not buying that he's a guaranteed 1st liner as he hasn't progressed that way on the stat sheet yet.

I will say that it's a very strange year for the NJD this year as well.
Luke Hughes in.
That made Hamilton lose his PP1 spot for no apparent reason other than Brother Jack wanted Brother Luke to be on PP1 even though Hamilton was outproducing Luke at that point from PP1/PP2 split time. Then Hamilton went and got hurt and was out for the season.
Jack Hughes has been hurt twice this season.
Timo Meier is in the line-up for a full year this season.
Tyler Toffoli is in the line-up for a full year this season.
Nico Hischier is not having as great of a year as he had last year.

I imagine $60 million is still on the table if the rumors can be believed.

That does seem to be the going rate for a non elite, 2-3 d-man. So, if he commits here and gets that exact contract I don't think we'd have much to complain about.
Until we draft, or luck into, an elite d-man that would mean our top three are set.

Looks like Winnipeg should have used that first for Tanev instead of Monahan, might have helped em not get scored on.

Well apparently every deal has to be an 8 year deal now, so 27 actually is kinda pushing it. Especially with a big dollar contract on a not elite guy.

I’d still rather trade him for assets and look for other players expensive cast offs like the Krugs and the Ghostisbears, who bring in assets to dump and then flip at the next deadline.

I wonder if they're in the market? They gave up their first for Monahan, but they still own Montreal's second this year, which will be almost like a late first rounder.

Possibly because if a second is the price they would have a relatively high one

I'm thinking a guy like Hanifin will be damn near as effective in his mid 30's as he is now. Not rough and tumble at all and D typically hang on to their game longer. I'd do 8 at a decent price if it could be met.
