Lindholm has scored 9 goals, Kuzmenko has 8. It's reasonable to expect Kuzmenko to up his numbers in Calgary if given more opportunity.

It's not going to matter once you take goals prevented into account. Goals prevented for skaters is an invisible stat that Lindholm was good at.

Woof ^ yeah. That illustrates things pretty well.
Kuzmenko is the more efficient scorer, even in his down year. Lindholm provides a lot more in other aspects of the game though.

This could be our home run, and Conroy still has the bases loaded.

I agree. How many times this season did we see guys miss passes and were not ready to shoot the puck. Kuzmenko looks like he is exactly the type of the player, hanging around the net, moving the puck then moving to open ice, that could be successful with Huberdeau. If not then he is gone next season.

I'm pointing out that quantity doesn't make it a haul or an extremely good deal if the quantity has little value.
A late 1st and Brzustewicz for Lindholm is pretty much how Id' sum it up.
Kuzmenko is a cap dump for the Canucks and where Calgary is in their window will be irrelevant to them in the long term which is why I think they deal him before he becomes another distraction for them.
|
lol you know he is a Canucks fan right? Like a hardcore Canucks fan.
who is this guy? If you came here to talk down the return to Flames fans IDK, get a life?

You clearly don't understand what 4th round picks are to the Calgary Flames.

maybe in the past, Lindholm wasn't preventing a lot of goals this season
and yeah, who cares lol
Pump up Kuzmenko's numbers and trade him
It wouldn't be the first time a player moved teams and played way better, the guy obviously has it in him

Huska has his work cut out for him arranging a lineup of forwards. At least, in the short term. Does he keep Backlund and Kadri's lines intact and mess with the other two or does he blender them all?

I am really happy about this deal. It helps simplify the deadline for Conroy he has 31 days to make 2 more trades, and set the course of this team for the next crop of young talent.

Two slowish wingers not known for being great defensively - who centers them?

I think getting Zary back to center is the best plan.
We know he's a hell of a player now, who can carry the puck pretty proficiently. If you can turn him from a top 6 winger to a top 6 center since he has history of playing there, that's the best outcome. Fill the hole internally.

My prediction for Kuzmenko for the Flames post All-Star --- 10g + 15a = 25 pts

it's a good return. I have no idea what you expected, but Lindholm has been underperforming this year and getting this kind of package for him is a solid deal for Calgary. I personally don't like trading within the division, but I understand why Conroy pulled the trigger here.
reclamation project in Kuzmenko who might turn into a valuable deadline asset in 2025
really good right-handed D prospect in Brzustewicz
another D prospect in Jurmo (more of a long shot, but why not)
1st round pick (no condition and in 2024)
another draft pick
that's a good deal. The Athletic floated Kuzmenko + Höglander + 1st a few days ago ... in reality, it's Brzustewicz + Jurmo + conditional 4th instead of Höglander. And honestly, I'll take that. Conroy did well.

Last year he played a lot on the power play and with Pettersson and Mikheyev/Miller. If you watch a lot of his goals it starts with Pettersson and a Kuzmenko tip. I think that he will produce well with Huberdeau.
This year his most common linemates were the gate and the bench.

Lindholm has not done that this year. He has not been a good 200 foot hockey player this season.

Well, I do think he was one of the reasons the Flames have the 3rd(?) best PK this year. I enjoyed watching that.
Don't think they need to pump up Kuzmenko's numbers, teams already know how many goals he can score. I'd try to trade him now.
