I want Kuzmenko to score points for trade flipping at the TDL in 2025. Rack up the points, get Huberdeau and Sharangovich some apples, and get the Flames a 1st or 2nd when playoff teams need that extra firepower.

Am hoping Pelletier and Coronatos growth will phase him out in 13 months.

Man imagine the haul we would have gotten for Dion if we had had Craig at the helm 14 years ago. We probably would have won the Cup by now.

This team is still missing 2 players at the very top of the roster to make it an actual relevant deep playoff threat, and while Lindholm did not have the value to bring in any good shots at one on his own, I do think he should have been able to be converted into better shots at one than he has been.

Ultimately, I think this ends up just shuffling the deck chairs. We’ll see what happens with the rest of the impending trades.
Lol Kuzmenko was a cap dump, retaining salary or taking a cap dump, the assets wouldn't change.....

How often do 3rd rounders sign an NHL contract within a few months after being drafted?

Seems like confirmation bias to me.

We need an Around the League report on this trade for the Vancouver perspective.

Nope, don't think I mentioned anyone being a problem. Maybe implied that fake support is common and doesn't help anyone.

Edit: I'm drunk and thought original reply was to a comment I made earlier. Disregard.

Well then, you're out to lunch. The Flames just sold a prized asset UFA who is still in his prime for 4 future assets and a cap dump.

Lindholm brought plenty of value, and these assets will go a long way to helping the team build for the future. 5 assets for 1 player. Not sure what else you need to see to indicate a clear rebuild.

Maybe, just maybe, you're ####ing wrong?

lol this post just screams someone seeing what they want too see and getting mad. It’s pretty comparable to the Horvat deal and if Kuzmenko clicks with Huberdeau they can flip him elsewhere in the offseason or the next trade deadline.
What player/prospect do you think Lindholm could have got?

If anything, not using retention confirms he's selling everything and saving it for another trade. No other reason NOT to use it on a UFA.

I'm disappointed the Flames didn't make the Nucks pay more to get out from under the Kuzmenko contract.

The guy had a 27% shooting percentage last year which is the highest shooting percentage by a player in any single season since the lockout.

This year his shooting percentage has gone back to normal and he has been a drag on the Canucks cap. His production is very disappointing considering he's still been on the 1st PP all season.

I feel like the Flames should have gotten a 1st + for Lindholm and a 1st for taking Kuzmenko. I see him as a worse player than Monahan who the Flames traded a 1st to dump.

Also, if the Flames are now in the business of helping their Canadian rivals, I wish they would have sent Lindholm to the Oilers instead.

So you expect the general manager who just talked him into waiving his no trade clause in a trade that also brought a first round pick, a conditional 4th and 2 prospects to say "we don't even like the guy and traded for him only to flip him because we are rebuilding"?

Anyone who pays Lindholm $7.5mil+ is going to have Huberdeau-like regrets.

Good trade for both teams IMO.

Calgary did well getting back a 1st + Brzustewicz in terms of futures for the deal. Kuzmenko has a year of seeing how he does and he can be traded at next year's deadline or re-signed. Vancouver gets a good top 6 2 way player who can go to a team and be that complimentary piece behind Miller, Petersson, and maybe even Boeser up front. It's a solid add for them. I would give an A grade to both teams.
