I wonder how long it is before other teams looking to rebuild realize all they need is a half arsed complaint to allow an older overpaid player to walk away to a cup contender
Agents will be all over this

If the action is bad enough that the only path is termination of the contract, then the action or conduct was serious enough it should result in a suspension.

I dont think thats really a conspiracy theory anymore.

Its been known for a while that, and I dont think its Katz, but Lowe has been notorious for keeping the media on his side with a tight fist.

Its either 'super positive' or whatever the team message is or buh-bye Press Credentials.

That being said, the National Media are just bootlickers, I cant explain that.

Why would agents be all over this? Perry just went from a $4M salary to $775K

Or are you suggesting agents will fight this?

He has been for some time. He apparently had Spector removed from Oilers broadcasts because he was critical of the Oilers. He has a direct line to Bob Stauffer and has called in during shows if he is displeased about the direction of the conversation.

I know he’s not popular on this board but ask Drew Remenda about it. Back in the day he got reprimanded from Roger’s cuz he was “too critical” of the Oilers.

The termination of the contract was uncontested. And yet, he is allowed to sign another standard player's contract, with no penalty or repercussions.

It is difficult to have any respect for the league office, and the people running it.

Mind blowing that Drew Remenda of all people got reprimanded for being too tough on the Oilers.

Also, if his explanation for his actions was that he has a drinking problem, how can the league allow him back without going through treatment?

That’s just it. If you’ve ever met Remenda he can be pretty sarcastic. And him getting reprimanded would push him WAY over the top the other way. That’s why I always laughed when people would complain about him being a homer.

It does seem like a contradiction when a team says that a player no longer deserves a contract and the league agrees, only for the same league to say they deserve a contract with another team.

He breached the terms of his contract with the least ethical team in the league to the point that the NHL allowed them to void his contract, yet the league allowed him to sign with another team in the same season. Bush league!
I suspect the NHL allowed him to sign specifically so he could sign with the Oilers at league minimum. They have no qualms signing bums and crooks, and signing toxic morally bankrupt players that no other team will touch allows them to get a massive discount on their contracts. Even more reason to hate the Oilers than before.

I just find it funny that the Oilers have now done this twice.

On top of LTIRetiring Smith and Keith.

What more do they want? They're getting away with murder here.

Its like the League is just..."Win a Cup or quit already! S### or get off the pot!"

They should let Kane's ex-wife loose on the town with a paintball gun to hunt them down.
