I'd imagine it's more load management than anything else. He didn't play in over one and a half years, after all.

I'm thinking more or less the same.

Definitely do not want to load the groin too much.

This is his preseason and we usually see quite a few groin tweaks in the early games. Not worried.

I don't know how the CBA works - does erring on the side of sitting him out injured let them stretch the conditioning stint at all?

No, all games count played or not. Steinberg did tell me yesterday on Twitter they did apply for a conditioning extension for Kylington though.

All I can get

The Wranglers don't play again until Friday when they hit the road for games against Coachella and Bakersfield.
Could Kylington possibly go back on LTIR in the meantime?

He is still on LTIR. With the extension, it looks like the conditioning assignment will end after Friday's game no matter what because that's the Wranglers' fifth game since he was assigned.
The timing works out nicely for him because he won't have to go to Bakersfield -- the Edmonton of California.

If Kylington's on the AHL road trip, they could activate him from LTIR and then put him on a 14-day conditioning stint without him having to go anywhere. Columbus did it earlier this season with Tarasov.

Wonder if he is better than some of the prospects at this point with a year and a half of rust.

No doubt about it. He still seems to be in great physical shape. I see him easily being the bonafide number 6.

He may ever be the same as he was. That's a lot of time to miss for a guy who only had one NHL season under his belt.
