2022-23, you mean. 2021-22 Markstrom was a Vezina finalist (#2).

Refs stole it back

I think the Flames got clowned in the neutral zone this game, I think the defense gave up the blue line way too easily, the PP is horrific. I think these issues have plagued the team all year, and the only reason we aren't in the lottery race is because Markstrom is having a big bounce back.
Refs were the worst part of this game, hands down. But our coaching still sucks.

You think the roster sucks but also the coach sucks because they are barely above .500

Always Grinds my gears when a player swings away when the ref has the other guy covered...
Separate them of GTFO of the way and let them go.
Doesn't matter what team they are on.

If these eastern teams can make the Flames play morning games then we should schedule late night games for them. 9:00p MT.

Respectfully, I couldn't disagree more.
The NHL has decided to inject a billion dollar industry into a sport where the refs make low 6 figure annual salaries. When you have that relative level of disparity between the guys who can determine the outcomes, and bad actors it's a recipe for misconduct.
In my opinion, it isn't even a question of "if". It's simply a question of when the first conclusive case will be shown to have occurred.
They don't even have to make game altering calls. Just beat the spread. And it can be done so easily via third party apps.
We even have the fun "war room" calls from TO that alter the outcomes with nonsensical calls - doesn't even have to be the guy in the building.

It honestly feels good to not feel super bummed out at loses. That’ll definitely change over time though as the team gets better once again

I think with good coaching the Flames are battling for a wild card spot. Even good PP coaching likely adds a few wins.

So that means you do think Huska is a good coach? The Flames are in fact battling for a wild card spot, as they're only two points out of the 2nd wild card spot.

Yes, the officials were (very) bad today but this was one of this teams poorest efforts of late, IMO.

I actually think that when the Flyers turned up the physicality/intimidation, it slowed the Flames down. I wouldn't call it 'getting scared', but it seemed to take some of the swagger out of their game.

|
What we do know (and I believe it came from Weegar) was that Sutter would say during the first period intermission within earshot of Markstrom when the score was tied at 0-0: "Get ready to get into the game Vladar. It doesn't seem like Markstrom is ready to go this game."
I also will argue that Markstrom was ridden too hard last season too. Sutter is old school in his approach with goalies. Markstrom needed more days off. He has had those this year so far, and he has looked better.
Of course it is impossible to disprove that the 'baby worries' didn't end up having a huge impact, or that Markstrom simply had a bad year, period, all on his own. If Sutter didn't ride him too hard, and if he didn't play those mind-tricks with Markstrom, then we as fans would have no choice other than to point the needle squarely at Markstrom.

18% chance of making the playoffs and 12th in the conference in points percentage. That's not battling for a wildcard spot.

I thought that with points in 8 of the last 10 coming in and some wins against middling teams, that the Flames were done with leaving gettable points on the table for a bit. Pretty frustrating to come up empty handed, especially with them being tied after 40. Damn it.
Thankful I was too busy to watch. But I heard what sounded like an atrocious reffing performance from the radio. Seems like there's far more "short end of the stick" games in that regard this year than not..... You'd think the refs might have a soft spot for a hard working underdog group like this, but they seem to like stiffing this bunch pretty consistently whenever the game is on the line. Don't know why they don't save that for the league darling teams who need to be taken down a peg far more often.
This league stinks. Too bad we have to suffer this #### watching our favourite team. But then again, I realize now that I'm barely watching them lately. Not out of a lack of love for the team, but out of a lack of enjoyment of the product. At some point, taking 2.5 hours out of your day just to come out of it feeling sour or like it was time wasted isn't something you can afford with the limited number of hours we have.

I get what you’re saying, but even after sleeping on it, I’m bummed out by yesterday. The refs were almost entirely responsible for the change in momentum of the game. It was engineered, you could see it happening in real time and you could see the coming outcome.
I’m not saying we deserved a win, but I am saying we weren’t getting one.

Usually don’t see Markstrom punching people and slashing them away. Referees failed to do their job.

The fact they they reviewed this hit, knew is wasn't a penalty, and then still gave Lindholm 9 minutes in penalties shows that you can't have refs reviewing their own calls. Human nature to not want to stand up in from of 18k people and say you screwed up.
