He needs someone who isn’t always surprised when he gets a pass through to them.

His professional head coaching experience is terrible, and this year looks to be on par with his AHL record.

So not sure what that proves
You may also want to consider why the Flames hire bargain bin coaches. Why would a premiere coach want to come here?
|
He was a middling coach before that came out, and if he was really good a team would rehab his image and take a chance. See Babcock...not that he worked out in CLB.

Those guys get paid not matter what
So they get to pick based on other factors such as the state of the roster.

The coaches need to do something.
Move Mangiapane back to the Backlund line. He has one goal in December and doesn't look good.
I like Pospisil, but he isn't a top 6 player. He has two points in December despite being on the top offensive line. Try Huberdeau there. He has looked great with Zary the little time they have been together. Plus, Huberdeau should be on the offensive line not the shutdown line.
Sharangovich and Lindholm have some chemistry. Try calling up Kerins, Coranato, or Petersen. In a pinch put Pospisil or Greer there to give them a bit of oomph. But move Mangiapane off that line.
And for cripes sake, scratch Dube. Waive him if you need to make room. He has zero points December and is a - 3 over that time. Ruzicka and Dueher can't buy a game most nights and they have been better.

Babcock wasn’t a racist
The optics of hiring Peters are far worse
Terrible argument by you

I think he is taking about Huska and you are talking about Love
Thus the confusion

I'm not bothered by Huska too much. Probably the perfect guy for a sell off. I'm happy he had them playing hard and hope that carries through after the trade deadline. It's a good habit to keep for the young players.

Mitch Love wasn't not hired because of money. How does this statement go with your Mitch Love love?
Again he is the exact coach you don't want the team to hire.

Ahhhh... I think you might want to actually check Huskas resume vs Loves .
Huska did very well in Kelowna 2 championships as assistant coach, 1 championship as head coach . He also coach that kelowna team to have pretty good success in yhe playoffs repeatedly. . Meh , in Ahl but made the playoffs more than a few times with a complete #### roster. His junior career playing was pretty good too
Mitch love on the other hand, continually was assist coach for Everett who in his time was always ranked top 3 (one year 5th) but never made it past the first round. Same story as head coach in Saskatoon. His only real success was last year with a very Stacked Wranglers .
Huskas resume is much better if you compare the 2.

None, so no other organization thought he was head coach material either? Maybe he wasn't the solution either.

And judging by what the callups have done and what the AHL team is still doing its hard to say one way or another on Love
I mean he had a STACKED AHL team
The Wranglers would have done just fine with Zary and Wolf standing on his head if Huska was behind their bench last season IMO
and they kinda choked in the playoffs with Love

You mean Ryan Huska who was assistant coach then head coach in Kelowna ? The years he was in charge of defense there is the reason the Rockets churned star defense after star defenseman out.
He set set up the Rockets to get the reputation of being a defenseman making machine.

If there's anything that's god awful bad, it's the goddamned powerplays! I think every team that plays the Flames know this and they can continually take penalties knowing the Flames will just pass the puck around the perimeter. Someone fire that coach that's doing the powerplays and promote the PK guy. Flames score more on the PK than PP - WTF???

We are giving up more goals per game than the Oilers with a superior defense, three 2-way Cs, top 5 PK, and according to some, goaltending from Markstrom that is worth more than $6M/year.

Man... what has happened to Dillon Dube?
He's on pace for 17 points this season. Down in icetime from 15:10 to 11:53, so that is a part of it, but he also got looks with Lindholm and Backlund and Kadri at times during the year.
As for the game, it was a bit dull and they weren't able to generate a ton against a team playing a solid road game with a goalie making all the good saves he had to.
Too bad. That's a tough home loss to a team they are hoping to beat out for a spot.

Yes, you’re right. We are giving up seven one-hundredths of a goal per game fewer than the Oilers.

Backlund was the most pedestrian player on the ice tonight. Huberdau doesn't skate when he has the puck. Kadri only skates when he has the puck. 3 big reasons why this team didn't have enough tonight.
