If it was Hanifin and he didn’t pull the trigger then it would be a fail but there wasn’t much smoke around either of those guys.

I think it was either a Chucky base (I think Treliving knew he was losing Chucky after the 22 season anyway)or they were going to do something like Monahan+several of our top prospects for an all in run

Ah, what could have been.

Don't fail us this time, management. Sell everything that isn't nailed down and build around the current young players and whatever highest picks you can get in the next 3 years.

(...LTIR has always been a cluster !@#$ in my head though, so who knows)
No, Lindholm's cap hit isn't declining. It gets prorated, but that's not the same thing.

When a team has, say, $10 million in cap space at the deadline, it doesn't mean that they can acquire players with a $10 million remaining cap hit. It means they can acquire players whose total cap hit for the season is $10 million. Prorating the number (which you are doing) is just a different way of looking at the same thing – paying the same salary for fewer remaining days in the season. You don't get to do both.

I want Gulyayev over Ritchie.

I'd be happy with him and a first. Add a pick for retention and let's ####ing go!

Problem with Boston is they don't have picks this year. They don't pick until round 4 of the 2024 draft.

To get a proper rebuild going you probably need this years first rounder from any team. Or you don’t and tank for an extra season to really have a good chance of having high picks this and next year while collecting draft picks for next year. Positives and negatives for both situations.

Either/or is just fine. Personally I'd rather Ritchie. Big RHS Center replacing a RHS center. I'd say Ritchie is a surefire NHLer and his ceiling is TBD.

Gulyayev is a fantastic D man and perhaps Col9rado can afford to move their top d prospect given that their D corps is locked in for a while. As a big supporter of Russian players I even have to admit the Russian factor at this point in time is more real than it has ever been though, so that's a bit of a stickler.

I’d be fine with the flames having another first round pick in 2025. Provided the extra first they get from the Hanifin trade is in 2024. A first round pick from Boston in 2025 would likely be a better pick than this year anyways as I think they won’t be as good by then.

I would be fine with a 1st in a 2025 or 2026 draft. Boston's 1st would be really low this year anyway. I would gamble that the 2025 or 2026 1sts will be better.

I know the Veruca Salts around here would be angry though.

The problem is that aside from those (very) late picks, they have next to no prospects to offer either. Just not a great trade partner IMO especially for a Flames team that seems to want young roster ready players in return as well

Their 25 1st rounder is tied up as well

You do know that a 1st round pick in later years is worth way less than a 1st round pick this year. That was established after the Zadorov trade. May even be better to pick in the 4th round this year instead of the 1st round in 2026.

Article on trading Markstrom and I agree with multiple points especially the fact that he is playing better than his stats (and his stats are okay).

https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-...cob-markstrom/

Freeing up cap space and getting a good return with younger players and picks. I hope Conroy is working those other GMs.

Boston is the worst trade partner for the flames unless you're getting Poitras which isn't happening.

Literally nothing much in their pipeline.

How much longer until Boston starts to fade? Are they gonna suck in 2025/26?

Get their 1st rounder for that year and maybe the Flames can get multiple tries at McKenna
