Kakko is not a throw in for anything

If a 25 yrs old Bennett could fetch two 2nd, a 22yrs old Kakko can fetch at least that

Hanifin (50%) and Duehr for Kakko, Schneider, and 2024 1st. If not Schneider then zero retention from Hanifin and take Lindgren and Othmann. Would want Perrault but I doubt they deal him.
Be prepared to be disappointed, Hanifin is not going to return a solid young dman ( a recent 1st) and a 1st and Kakko

Not even close

Kakko doesn’t have much value.

When Bennett was traded, he was trending up under Sutter. It was brief, but it was enough for a team to bite on him. Don’t know if I could say the same about Kakko.

Kakko is only 22 but he's looking like a massive bust. Flames need draft picks and good young prospects and he doesn't fit that bill.

Kakko + NYR 1st for Hanifin (50%) is probably the most we could squeeze... But I would be tempted to push for Perrault over Kakko. I am not as high on Kakko as others seem to be + we have not had much luck with Finns outside of one notable exception.

Hanifin for Crosby. Pens need someone to play with Karlsson.

And I still don't get the impetus for NYR to trade for another D man.

Fox, Trouba, Miller, and (apparently) Lindgren are a winning top 4. Are you really willing to shell out the massive amount it will take to put Hanifin on your bottom pairing? What about re-signing him?
I just don't buy it I guess. Unless they are looking to upgrade on Lindgren.

Detroit or Colorado for Lindholm.

I wonder if we could score as much as Kaspar + a 1st for lindy if there is bidding. Humina humina.

I would rather have Perrault over the Rangers 1st round pick. He's doing very well in college and looks like he's going to be a player. Kakko should be treated as a throw in and not an adder.

I don't think it's crazy to expect at least 2 additional 1sts over the next 2 seasons from trading Hanifin, Tanev, and Lindholm this season. All independently have been rumored to be worth more than this.

IMO Kakko's pick value is probably late round 1st or early 2nd in vaccuum. Hanifin alone is worth a 1st, and the 50% retention (~$2.5 million) is worth a 2nd or more.

As a minimum, I hope for 3.

I have a feeling the Flames are going to win a few more in a row and end up keeping all the players for a potential playoff run.

Would be such a Flames thing to do.

It would have to be a 10 game winning streak or something to even get into the playoff discussion and then they would need sustained high level of play. I am not worried lol

Before Bennett was traded he had the following three previous seasons

24 year old year - on pace for 26 points over 82 games
23 year old year - on pace for 19 points over 82 games
22 year old year - on pace for 31 points over 82 games

Kakko if he was traded would have the following 3 previous seasons right now

22 year old year - on pace for 12 points over 82 games based on his first 20 games.
21 year old year - 40 points over 82 games.
20 year old year - on pace for 34 points over 82 games.

Some might look at his 20 game sample size this year as a proof point that he is a total bust but I think most hockey folks would look at it as an aberration from what was previously an upward trajectory in his development path.

Heck, if he comes back from his knee injury and puts up 5 points in 10 games he is back to a 22 point pace and may not be a bust anymore. But totally agree, if Sammy was worth two second round picks being two years older then Kakko is definitely worth that at a minimum.
