The problem with that is it leaves our most skilled player sitting on the bench for the entire PP.

Flames 1 out of the last 33 power plays. That's about 1 goal in 60 minutes. That would be terrible 5v5.

You couldn't convince me Dallas is way higher in the standings if I knew nothing about these teams coming in.

They look every bit as composed and dynamic as the Stars.

Not retaining salary was a big factor, because other teams were asking to retain quite a bit(guessing half).

And equally importantly, Flames kept the retention spot. Now they have the opportunity to trade Lindholm, Hanifin, and Tanev, their highest cap hit UFAs, all at 50% retained to maximize the returns. If we had to retain on Zad, as would have been necessary with most trade partners, that retention spot would have been lost for a lesser return.

No kidding. I loved Zadorov more than most but he was still clearly the 5th best dman on the team
