Maybe it's you, then. Our typical Christmas almost always involves a hippopotamus on someones list.

I've always assumed this was your main Christmas tradition:

I guess we've all grown out of asking for front teeth.
I guess a gear grinder, but #### that elf on a shelf thing into oblivion. Only an ultra small minority of people who do it aren't complete #######s. If that thing shows up in my home, I'm openly burning that totem representing a manipulative ####ing snitch.
Christmas traditions have only gotten worse over time.

Oh man, those cringe chicks that go totally overboard just to show off on facebook how they're a super mom because their elf ate all the candy canes and tracked crumbs along the counter are the worst. Or it got drunk on the rum somebody left out. I'm so quirky!!
Like, have fun with your kids and your elf if you want, but FFS, don't be a tit about it.

considering how old most of those songs are, it's no surprise.
the deck the halls song we all know had the english lyrics written about 150 years ago.
back then everyone donned their gay apparel. not so much now.

Man, I like Christmas and pretty much everything associated. I'm guessing there's a direct correlation between everybody who hates it that just also hates life in general in the "Rate your mental health" thread.

You like Christmas because you have children under the age of 14. That is when Christmas is enjoyable. Wait until you're 42 and your 75 year old mother in law screams cries in your face for ruining Christmas because you forgot her present at home after driving 3 hours to see them.*
*not me but my cousins husband. poor guy. Hilarious story though.

What do you like specifically about Christmas.
PS: kinda a ######bag vibe to throw shade a people's mental health.

probably. When you're having money problems, life problems, physical and mental health problems, it's hard to give a #### about the christmas season.
Fake it for the kid is the best I can do.

Food, baking, presents, seeing family, decorating my outside house with lights, seeing other people's Christmas lights, the music, the dumb Christmas specials and movies, the general vibes, Holiday Baking Championship on the Food Network, the extra days off work... whole thing is awesome. Having kids made me like it even more cause they just get super jacked about it, of course.

You forgot to say mocking other's mental health, the most Christmassy of all Christmas things.

Who's mocking? I dunno why you're trying to pick a fight over that comment, would you argue that it's inaccurate?

Whiles mocking might be on point you were certainly throwing shade at other mental health.
I have good mental health.
I hate Christmas.
Plenty of people have great mental health other than at Christmas because of the pressure to like Christmas and all it accoutrements.

I would argue it.
"I'm guessing there's a direct correlation between everybody who hates it that just also hates life in general in the "Rate your mental health" thread."
The way you wrote it makes it seem that we're hating life as a choice instead of having difficulty coping with the challenges we're facing.
seemed a very flippant statement. I was grateful that someone else noticed it,so I didn't think it was just me seeing it that way.

Okay, I am sorry for that type of rude comment, my delivery of it was a bit brash and insensitive.

Why do you hate Christmas though? Like most people who tell me they hate Christmas either hate how capitalistic society takes advantage of it, or they hate their families they're forced to see. But what is there to dislike about the actual holiday and what it represents and the fun things and jolly vibes we get to participate in?

For me it's a few things.
1. I hate the clutter of Christmas crap everywhere. I like things clean and chill.
2. Parents divorced in grade five. Christmas was always a back-and-forth ordeal and never all the relaxing.
3. Then got married and you have my two sides of the family and then my wife's family, too, so we're pulled this way and that. Plus they live 90 minutes outside of town so then you're sleeping on crappy guest beds and have 18 people sharing two bathrooms. Ugh.
Not sure at what point you're allowed to do what you want, but my experience with Christmas is just going from obligation to obligation trying to make the people that have a Norman Rockwell-idea of what Christmas is happy. Since IDGAF about Christmas, I'm usually trying to make some boomer happy or trying to provide a fun Christmas for my kids. Would love just to turtle with my family of four and enjoy a fun time, but instead we're running all over hell's half acre.
Throw in work parties, etc. and it fkn sucks. Just so many expectations on your time. Covid absolutely ruled for that - probably my favourite Christmas and my friends have said the same.

For some, Christmas doesn't include jolly vibes or represent anything good.

It is a random made up day.
I don't hate my family & my friends. In fact that is why I don't need a random day in the middle of winter to see and spend time with them. I do it all year long.
Christmas is "put on", people don't really have Christmas Spirit.
Now Summer Solstice that is a time I can celebrate.

This is kind of funny as generally your posts seem to not care about societies requirements and instead impose your own generally correct concepts of expected behaviour. But here you are worrying about what 3 sets of boomers think. You don’t hate Christmas, you dislike the obligation. You are self imposing the requirements of society on yourself
Just declare what you plan to do at Christmas well in advance, give people an inconvenient opportunity to join you, and then enjoy your small Christmas.
For me that was just declaring every second Christmas I’m not leaving my house. So if family or friends want to see us they will know where we will be. Once you set expectations people grumble a bit but then decide what they want to do.
