I’m sad I couldn’t watch this one. Huge win, including because the UFAs will be worth more with games like this. I hope the Flames get tons of valuable futures AND make the playoffs! They are really close.
That pass by Zary was amazing.
Looks like Blake and Jordan Coleman’s family has more than enough to be awesome hosts to that many people.

Sharangovich is probably the Flames best shooter
Have they tried him with Huberdeau
With all due respect, Lindholm is not the solution

There’s lots of time to figure things out with Sharangovich. Right now Huberdeau, Backlund and Coleman are doing fine together. And Sharangovhich is heating up a bit and finding some success with the ice time that comes with being on Lindholms line. Down the road, as Lindholm and maybe Mangiapane are sent off, the lines are going to change anyway.

Right now if you need to get Huberdeau going you need him playing with your best player, which at the moment is very clearly Blake Coleman.

1 more point and he ties Dylan Holloway in points (Holloway has played 65 games to Zary's 10) who was drafted 10 spots ahead of him by the No Goods.

Well, Lindholm is basically gone
That’s a temporary solution
And since the wizard gifted the Flames Huberdeau for the next 8 yrs, they need to make him the solution whether they like it or not

Don’t look now but do we finally have 4 lines with chemistry?? That 3 on 2 with the Lindholm line was perfection!

I really hope Sharangovich can keep this up. He has been great in the last 5 games. This last stretch has me really optimistic, especially if we could use him better on the PP.
As an aside Toffoli and Sharangovich have a very similar shot percentage this year, around 14.5%.

Sharangovich doesn't have to out score or even be near Toffoli if Toffoli is having a great season on a deep Jersey team.
The decision to not sign him or walk him to free agency meant he needed to be traded.
Once that's the plan you just add back as much value as they can. It's looking like the Flames added some decent value. Hopefully Suniev adds to the mix.
Those that wrote him off as a fourth liner early in the season ... sigh

The flames had the option of giving Toffoli the retirement contract he wanted, which was the worst of all options.
This is what great asset management looks like. Trading older vets for younger assets. No one is trading younger Toffoli for our 31 years old Toffoli either. You have to aim for a player like Sharangovich and hope your scouts have done their jobs.

Flames seem to be able to run and gun with offensive minded teams. But the Isles and Preds, more boring, trap-esque teams, they couldn't break through and score enough even though they played as well, if not better, than opponents.
Plus Ottinger looked pretty plain, Markstrom outplayed him.
Definitely trending up and hopefully tonight they can outlast another team that played last night, and make this a really good trip, minus the Nashville frustration.

They can make a pass maybe 2 back to back once in a while
The can get a shot on net every so often and once in a while they even go in
But
They seldom look like they are in control
They looked brutal for most of this game but they hung around and got a few when it counted
Funny game to watch

I still think the Flames got lowballed on that trade because the league is capped out.
We gave up a 1st(26th overall) + Heinamen(B+ prospect, 2nd rnd) + 5th(cost of sending Pitlick back). For 2.5 years of Toffoli. He had a career year and we got a player that was a healthy scratch in the playoffs, and most here never heard of + 3rd.
I was hoping we could get a similar return to Tarasenko.
It remains to be seen if 2 years of Sharangovich are worth close to a 1st. I'm glad he's on a heater, but just like blindly assuming he was a 4th liner was wrong so is the idea that he will be an impact player from here on out. Happy he's looking good out there right now and rooting for him to make NJ regret the trade.

Well first off you'll never find me saying "he'll be an impact player here on out".
If a first was on the table for 2024 and we turned it down to get Sharangovich and a 3rd in the 2023 draft I would agree. That's a mistake.
I'd assume it wasn't.
So his option was to hold and go to camp with all the UFAs or do the best he could to lessen the risk and move the one that wanted out the most.
Don't see much point in navel gazing over that.
Hope it continues to look like a good trade, but Toffoli's production, to me, doesn't really factor into it.

It’s almost like trade markets vary from year to year.
I agree Toffoli’s production has nothing to do with anything. I figured he’d put up numbers this year with the likely linemates hed have.
